gsl-se spark plugs numbers, are they okay?
#2
NGK sells several plugs for rotary engines - these are the one's recommended by Mazda for our cars.
BR7EQ14's, BR8EQ14's and BR9EQ14's - notice that the BRx # is what determines the heat range for these plugs. For some climatic conditions, it's better to have a hotter plug, which transmits less of the plug heat to the surrounding plug itself - the heat range is determined by the height and thickness of the ceramic insulator that holds the center electrode. A 'hot' plug will run at a higher temperature, helping to burn off some of the carbon deposits and produces a hotter spark. A 'cold' plug will run at a cooler temperature and will produce a cooler spark.
You are supposed to choose spark plug heatrange based on the plugs that you pull out of the car. If they are burned, you should go colder, if they are all carbon'ed-up, you should go hotter. Check with your local parts counter, as these guys can tell you which BR# should be used based on the plugs you pulled out. HTH,
