Gsl-se Rats Nest/ Craaapp!
Dangit, everytime I think I am close to fixing "mr.hankey" I get kicked in the *****..
I am installing the GSL-SE manifolds and guess what, I don't have the "rats nest". It didn't come with the shell I bought... Can I still get this thing to run right without it? I am reading a bunch of horror posts about people who removed it then couldn't bareley drive thier cars... Any help will be great..
BTW i have to use GSl-se injectors too don't I.........? I can't use the stock S4 ones can I?
Damnit.

I ahve run holleys before on several 7's... I was not too pleased with the performance on the track. I am going to run EFI... Thanks for the sudgestion but I am going to run EFI..
Anyone else know anyway to get it to run without the Soilenoids that I am missing?

I was wondering if someone could tell me how I can find out what kind of holley carb I have. I noticed that the intake below the carb says racing beat on it. So I think that it must be a racing beat set-up.

Well, first off, the "rat's nest" on an SE is actually much simpler than what you'd find on any of the other models out there. There are basically 2 sets of solenoids that you need to be aware of, and 1 set is simply for vacuum-assisted timing advance. The other set is more important (for idle quality), and features Vent and Vacuum solenoids which operate the Bypass Air Control Valve (BACV) to adjust for idle compensation during changes in engine load - such as turning on headlights and/or running A/C.
These V/V solenoids can be purchased on-line or through your local Mazda dealer for a sum, but you might want to talk to members here to see if anyone has a metal bracket with everything mounted that they've removed due to going carb'ed. You might get lucky, and just find one that you can drop in and get it running. The other part of the under-plenum parts that you'll need is the 'spider' which brances out the oil injector air tubes to power the oil injectors, and also a vacuum chamber for the diaphragm valves that adjust idle air flow. These are SE-specific parts, so you may want to put that in your WTB ad.
While I mentioned that it's not as important to get the vacuum-assisted timing advance solenoids, I would still recommend it - this helps with throttle response and driveability, and is worth doing, IME.
Sorry I can't offer up any suggestions on bypassing the 'nest', but know that SE owners don't gain any performance by removing any of this stuff,
