gsl-se megasquirt
i red that it was like 200 to get the megasquirt going but what about buying it and what else do i need to get it going. Do i just take off my air flow meter from there. If someone can tell me how easy is it and how much down time do i have to have to get the car back on the road. Do i need wiring . what . any helpful hints i awould appreciate it .com

Definitely not plug and play. Jeff 20b and REnns are the megasquirt gurus around here. The issue with the megasquirt is that there is no one way to do it. You can use your Mazda sensors and injectors, or you can convert to GM stuff, or you can hand wind your own if you really feel like it.
Since your question is not terribly specific, lets go with this:
You WILL need to do wiring. It is NOT just a matter of unplugging your -SE computer, and dropping in the megasquirt.
If you do your research, you could have the car running in a weekend, but you'll be tweaking maps for a few weeks from there.
Hit up the megasquirt sites, or search around here, and you should be able to gather some more info.

Tofuball, several other guys from MD, and myself got an S5 running on the MS this Sunday... It was great.
I'm looking at MS'ing my truck.
There's some guides, but they have a LOT of room for adjustment. We were tuning that S5 by trial and error dropping numbers in, and slowly creeping up the map... Started at idle, then moved to free rev, then went driving...
Wideband O2 might be a good thing to have.

Pele, would you be interested in helping me install a megasquirt this summer in my SE. Im also from NOVA, springfield to be specific. I remember seeing your RX-7 in that church parking lot a year or so ago.

The actual wiring of the Megasquirt is dead simple. If you take your time, using proper soldering techniques, heat shrink and making nice harnesses, it's about a 5 hour job (not including running the wires to the fuel pump). Everything is very straightforward if you have wiring/electronics experience.
Remember, you need to connect the Megasquirt to the coolant temp sensor, air temp sensor, TPS, ignition coil, fuel pump relay, injectors and idle motor/BAC (if you use it). There is some slight fab work involved, and you need to modify the existing wires to bypass a few systems. It's certainly not plug and play, but it's not overly complicated.
I can't think of any issue that would make a Megasquirt harder to use on a GSL-SE, but I have not wired an SE up with a MS before.
It's the tuning that take the time. Building a good, drivable fuel map can take a while if you don't have a dyno and wideband available.
