Question GSL-SE Heater removal help.

I don't know how many people have had there dash apart to see this but it's worth a shot because I'm stuck.

Well I have my whole dash out to replace a heater core, and I can't seem to figure out how to get the heater unit out of the car so I can access the core.

So far I've removed two bolts holding it in on the top of the unit, but it seems to be held in by something else either on the bottom or behind it that I cant find.

Anyone know how to remove this part, I have a shop manual, Chilton and a Hayes, all are not helping with this part.
Thanks

From someone who replaced their das in their GSLSE, I feel for ya.

I'm gonna have to take a stab at this. I left my heater in place when I did my dash swap but if you're trying to get the heater core out, I would assume it is attached to the the brass hoses that go thru the firewall to the plumbing inside your engine bay.

This may be too simple but it's all I got.

if like the fan unit there should be 2 feet going to the firewall. you'll need to pull the carpet down and fight the insulation.

Love the gas mileage quote on the window sticker... that solves the age-old question...

Thanks guys. I'm going to have to give it another shot eventually, I'm just looking for ideas. I might take some digicam photos and put together some explanations and put them on my website if I ever get the core swapped out and the dash back in, to help out others that have to tackle it. Took me about 2 hours to get the dash out, labeling every screw along the way. The shop manual doesn't have step by step instructions, but there is a page with an exploded view of the dash and how pieces come off, which helped. I'll keep ya'll posted.

howzit- just took my core/ heater unit out today, (just dig ripping stuff out i don't need)- on my 83' there was the two top bolts, and where the two brass pipes go through the firewall there is a bracket/clamp that holds them secure, the bracket has one nut holding it to the firewall, and the clamp has a screw up on top that holds the pipes to the bracket and it's a bitch if you don't have the dash off- i did remove the glove box and air vent pipes to gain access, also of course you need to disconnect the cables- then just get mad and yank the bugger out- good luck--- twisty roads to ya-
