GSL-SE Exhaust Question

Looking at a complete system. Need input on the pos and neg.
Who has what and if they like it or not.
Just for the GSL-SE

I was thinking about the Racing Beat Complete kit.
This SE is not a daily driver and I do not have emissions testing where I live, but I do not want my eyes to water everytime I stop at a light.

i have the racing beat header & muffler on my '85 GSL-SE. Originally I had 2 custom pre-silencers as well. It sounded great, very mellow, not like the lawnmower without a muffler sound i had before. the car revved a lot smoother too but my exhaust was shot before so.....

had it installed 5/11/98 and everything is still in great shape (i drive the car every day,all year long, lotsa salt & snow in winter) all the paint burned off the header on the first day and i hear that happens to most of the RB stuff.

i had to add a catalytic when they started emmision testing here a couple years ago. i went with the Random Technology Hi-Flow cat and passed with flying colors. it has held up ok,except this summer the cover fell off on the highway. the sound got a little 'tinny' after the cat but still way better than it was with the cheap system the car had when i bought it.

Well I have a 84 GSLSE. that I put the Racing Beat test pipe that replace s the cats and the power pulse muffler. It idles with a small rumble but when you get on it the tone does change to a much sweeter rumble. I do have a header Im going to switch to but havent figured out how to actuate the 6 ports. How did you? or what did you do when you put your header on. Thanks.

my mechanic ran a pipe from the pre-silencer (which he also made) to the actuator. when i got the cat put in it had an output for that pipe. works on back pressure or something i'm not too sure. Racing Beat has a special pre-silencer for the GSL-SE to run the 6ports

Wow,
got 2race that is a good deal does it include the header and muffler? Is that the complete exhaust?

rxtasy, thanks I guess I need the presilencer, do you still have the air pump and the emissions crap on there? I so badly want to rip it off and chuck it.

fire85 i believe the single exhaust gives you more torque and the dual gives more top end. I would prefer the dual. got2race might have the setup.

got2race send me a pic. Very interested. Really need a new exhaust on this GSL-SE. The owner I bought it from let midas weld on one of their mufflers and cat. Does not look good.
Also how do you take payment? M/O, Check, Paypal?
Check you messages. I left you my e-mail address.
E-mail me and we can get the shipping info to send it to me.
Thanks
