Gsl-Se air filter question

Ok I've done a comprehensive search but I still can't find anything. I went to the autoparts store to get a new filter because mine has literally melted inside the airbox. Turns out the part number that matches the car is obsolete and they can't get them. Is there another one that will fit? Can I take the dimensions of the old one and just sort of match one up at the store? Sorry if this a really noob question, but I'd like to change that thing as soon as possible.

I'm not sure. It also could be silicone, its that kind of consistency. And yes I did mean air filter. I tried 3 parts stores and nobody had one. I'll try mazdatrix, thanks for the tip.

Get a KN filter, last filter you will ever need and it will breathe better. :-)

Just ordered one from Mazdatrix. Now that I think about it, I think the last filter install, the owner decided the seal wasn't great so he siliconed all around the airbox lid.... The cover was literally glued to the base. Very sticky and annoying.
