GSL over SE ???

Old [Sch|F]ool
Well for one thing you don't have to worry about getting stranded if your trailing ignitor dies...
really the difference is a lot more than carb vs. injection... the SE engine is a whole different engine, the SE has bigger brakes front and rear, a different wheel bolt pattern, it reverted to the (better) air/oil cooler, it usually costs a lot more to buy one, ...

8krpm is not enough
The 12A is a 4port 1.2 liter block, but you knew that. The 13B is a 6 port 1.3 liter block, with higher compression rotors, a half-way decent fuel injection system, 3mm apex seals, 35 more BHP stock, ect.
If you can find a GSL-SE, get it! Starting with the bigger engine will put you a step ahead of the 12A guys. There are plenty of 2nd gen guys w/ NA 13B 6 port blocks (pretty much the same as the GSL-SE's until 88) pushing 200HP.
