grounding a first gen

i've heard first gens have grounding problems, even though i have never had any, so i was wondering where is the best place to secure my negative battery cable? i've spliced the negative cable about a foot from the terminal and put a round connector so i can ground it to the inner wall with a bolt. where is the best place to ground on the motor?............thanks, vic

The best spot is one of the big *** studs where the ac condensor mounts to (I dont have ac). I first ran a cable from the battery terminal to the small bolt beside the battery where you will see the stock wire grounded to, then to the big stud on the motor.

Just get two pieces of 8 guage cable, some o-connectors for the ends of the cable, two big nuts and a washer to fit the stud, and go to work! The o-connectors you get won't fit the stud, you'll have to cut one of them open to fit.

Sorry if my memory of this is a little fuzzy. There was an awesome 'how-to' for this on here, posted by NOPSTNS, but I think it was wiped out by the hack....

PS It made a BIG difference for me, my voltage went from a shaky 12 to a solid 14. I also have a big stereo, electric fan, etc.

I had a ground problem. It ended up being my wire and I had it replaced and used the original bell housing connection along with the connection to the inner fender under the hood. It works fine now.
