Arrow gotta love shop work

hi all, i'm new to the forum (and mazda's). i've been wrenchin on a few of my friend's n/a fcs, so i'm pretty comfortable with the rotors, for a piston fan anyways. i recently picked up an fb as a dd so my project can sit tight a little while longer, but i'm falling in love with it much sooner than i thought possible. everything is so simple on this thing! it took me longer to take the wheels off than to swap brake pads. if that isn't awesome i don't know what is.

anyways, today i took my car in to a shop by my house to take care of my front right screechin-like-a-banshee wheel bearing. i am comfortable doing most car work myself, but when it comes to things like this, i'd much rather pay someone to do it for me, in the hopes that they know what they are doing when i don't, because disaster in the suspension and such dept can really suck. plus, i got a really bitchin deal @ 50 $.

everything said and done, i start running the errands today, and thankgod, almost right after i came off the highway my wheel that was serviced today locked up like whoa. they musta put the wrong bearing in or somethin, but the wheel bearing came out very discolored, smashed, and with parts of spindel. man, i'm just glad i didn't take that cloverleaf corner like i normally do.

they're fixin it tomorrow, and in the meantime i'm reading the faq and trying to decide how much power i want to get out of a stock internalled 12a. next season is going to be full of hard decisions: which car do i take through the cones?

signing out- steve

Welcome to the forum and the Darkside.

Since you are in KC, the next time you need work done that you don't feel comfortable with doing, PM me. I'm an hour north of you in St Joseph. Most of my work is 1st gens from the KC area.

Newbs are required to post pics of thier newly aquired 7s, it's traditional and we're pic *****.

If you don't have a copy of the FSM, the link to the online ones is in my sig line. There are also other manuals including the carb and full wiring diagrams. Last link is my little project.

Welcome, we got another one roped into the 1st gens.

Seeing that that your other car is a '90 Celica alltrack I'm going to guess that come springtime there is going to be another Rx shooting through cones.

Welcome to the club. There are quite a few of use in the area. You just missed the opportunity to meet up and freeze your *** off with a bunch of us at the rotary bbq in Lawrence last month. I think there's another one planned for the spring and Alex promised better weather.

Your wheel bearing problem sucks, but at least you didn't get hurt. I'm guessing it went in backwards or they didn't replace the race when they should have. Replacing them yourself is really not hard. I just did it myself and the hardest part was putting the new races in.

and also if you arent comfortable doing things with your car, you'll never learn. try someting out, you'll suprise yourself!!! the wheel bearing is a VERY easy job. if you can change brake pads, you can change a wheel bearing. welcome. post those pics. we are eagerly awaiting!

oh yes, actually i was out at the meet, the last 2 of 'em in lawrence. maybe next time won't be rainy? ironically enough, alex is actually the guy i bought the car from.
don't think i'm afraid of learning new stuff though my gt4 has its engine in the garage with a nice bigger turbo on it, waiting to go back in the bay. after all, learning new things is half the fun of owning a 21 yr old car

i'll get some pixors up soon. but first, gotta get the car back!

wheels are kinda sucky

they aren't staying on the car long.

this is about the best i have for right now
man i need pics of that thing too now that i think about it. it's dark so the 7 is gonna have to have the photoshoot tomorrow, after class, oil change, and a clutch m/sl swap and bleed.

do you remember the car that alex did a one wheel burnout in? that 100 hp beast is mine now. i'm friends with the autoholic (obnoxiously loud fc, rotor tattoo on arm, etc) and so if you remember seeing anyone that rode shotgun and looked kind of sad in the pants due to lack of 7 love, well that was prolly me

Ahh see that is how it all starts you meet a friend that has a 7, you go to a meet and get exposed to all the sweet *** rotor fun and before you know it you have one in your garage. Now I kinda feel bad its like we are drug dealers serving rotary goodness to who ever will try it

Ain't that the truth. I may have to give up smoking just to afford the parts for the TII build.
