got my header today.. FINALLY

started my new job today.. (uno's making $7.50/hr instead of $5.15/hr at subway) i told subway that i wasnt coming in anymore and they could pretty much eat **** because i had been working there for 7 months and pretty much ran the store, and they wouldnt give me a raise. anyways.. just got home from uno's, tight job, cool people... ect. get home, theres a brown box in the living room. i rip it apart.. there it is, my 12a header . that thing is massive, if i stand it up, it comes to my waist. it also came with blocking plates for the air pump. it was a long wait.. but i guess worth it. i cant wait to get my exhaust on there now

edit: damn my camera takes shitty pictures

Nice man. It looks just like mine . I finally got mine all done, and tuned the carb. Sounds awesome. It was too metalic for me with just the pre-silencer and header, until I got the muffler on there. I like it . It was weird though, I scared the **** outta myself cause I had accidently turned off my battery cut-off switch while it was running and it caused some weird ignition probles. The charge shot to like 16v, and whenI turned on the fan, the tach jumped to like 6K and the engine speed didnt change. then, then I wet out to turn the switch on (after I figured out what happened), the leading runner of my header was BRIGHT red. I got it all figured out though .

I just purchased the complete racing exhaust system from Mazdatrix for $682.00 to my door for $746. What is this about blocking plates for the air pump? Is this necessary? Still a little green around the edges when it comes to RX-7's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, the block off plates will come with the header. The exhaust, does not utilize the air pump, or the ACV that is just above the stock header. So when you remove the air pump, the ACV becomes non-functional so you take it out. You need to block the passage where it came from so you use the block off plate. There is also an air supply line that runs down to the cat, and once you remove the cat, you dont need the supply line, so you disconnect it (close to the ACV), and use the other block off plate there.

I hope that helps, I remember when I was asking questions about the header I wasnt getting straight answers...I may even be able to dig up some pics for ya...

Ok, well Im sure you have seen the block off plates uninstalled now that you have them, you just want pics of where they go, right? I'll look for some tonight when I get home from this invigorating (sp?) computer class Im in ...If I dont have any, I may be able to snap you some late when I get back to my car .

Well, I went through my pictures I have on my computer, and odly enough, theyre all taken from the drivers side except a few. And those few dont even really show the plates well if at all. These are the two best that you can see the ACV block off plate in (the large triangular plate). I can try and get some more pics of them later tonight or tomorrow depending on when I go my car again (in my Dads shop). Hope these kinda help for now .
