got my first fb yesterday (1985) -- selected pics.

this pic: you can kinda see the front end it tweaked a bit

I removed the intake and found that two plugs that had been in the coolant passage holes had been removed, leaving the remains of teflon tape. (before intake removal pic)

in this pic you can really see how tweaked the front crossmember is... the culprit i will bet was a big rock when the dude was offroading in the fb (how all the damage underneath the car occured I am guessing)

only tools i've needed so far to work on the fb (luckily)

without intake and exhaust:

for more pics, please go to my gallery page for the car.

not yet? i want to get some thread-in plugs for the coolant passages before i go trying to start it.
The electrical system works for the most part when the main power distribution block is jumpered. (I'm just going to pull one from an s4 or an s5 so I can have more spaces for fuses)

Looks like the underside of my high school FB. It saw its share of golf course fairways in its day.

Its my old car., and with the Plugs in the intake did not fot correctly, and they should be in the passenger bin. or the glove box. A intake gasket should be in the back unless when we moved all the stuff around its laying around here, and yes if its there it comes with the o-rings that are needed.

The intake was ported by the last owner and accually flows quite well. There are bigger needles and jets in the carb. So it is gonna be hella rich until the fourbarrles open up.

The motor feels ported and I dusted a couple B16 CRXs in it. Trans is pretty much brnad new, pulled it out of a 85 with about 56k on the clock. Rear end is new. Trying to think of everything else. Hope you enjoy the coils. And there wouldnt happen to be a FC coil in the back that dosnt have the ijnitor pulled out. I need it for my FC lol.

Oh I forgot. The car NEVER EVER over heated on me and I will stand by that. And I dont drive easy. I ran it at auto-X all day one day(couldnt keep up with a FD sad really only a second off) and then headed out to the drag strip that evening for the night of fire.

I forgot that you didnt get my custom exhuast I made for it either, its being altered to fit my FC. Man that **** was loud.

If you want to know anything about it let me know.

Oh and the motor only has 20k on it.

I keep on forgetting stuff and dont feel like editing. I miss my car lol.

Did it come with the holley blue pump, super stock coils, carb install kit(brackets), and some new plugs. That is everything that is needed for it to run. It will NOT run on that fuel pump that is on the car, Ive done went through 3 stockers in the time I owned it. And it just barly feed enough fuel. Also you may want to rebuilt that carb, we had a run of shitty *** gas, and it looked pretty bad the last time i had a gander, but it still ran.

I got another edelbrock carb ( that's all i've run on all my carburated cars for the past 10 years )

At the moment, I'm sourcing some shallow allen socket plugs (maybe NTP plugs will work) for the two coolant passages on the intake side, then I'll put everything back together.

From what I have seen the orings do the job of the plugs. If you look at the face of the intake there are two dark spots in the area where the plugs would go on the block. I took them out because they stuck out about 1/2 an ich tofar and would not allow the intake to bolt up.

Dont use the gasket material that was on the intake at the time, I cut it out as a template for porting and left it in there. A new gasket and orings(if not in the car) is about 5$ from mazda trix and I got it in 3days after ordering.

There is a trick to starting that car also, Put the key in turn to accesory, take it out, let it sit for a sec then back in and crank it, should start in about 2 cranks.

edit:Oh I just looked in my small tool box and found those plugs, if you still want them I may be able to get them to you sometime next week.

The engine ports look stock, except they've been port matched to the intake manifold, thats the bevel at the edges. The inside of the runners still have their roughness and casting flaws.....

If you could give me the dia and thread pitch on the plugs I can get a set made here that won't stick out of the block.
Either that, or I'll find some shallow wall freeze plugs that will fit in the o-ring holes.

I had the same problem with my car and tracked it down to a bad car alarm. Starts fine now that I pulled it all out. I developed the same procedure to start my car too.

Think it's fuel or electric related? If fuel, hopefully the other fuel pump/fpr will fix that issue, and if electric, hopefully the FC main power distribution fuse panel will fix it.

I am going to be installing a pushbutton starter / ford pickup starter relay probably later today or tomorrow cause I don't like turning the key and worrying about snapping it~ I've done it before

Accually it was a stock carb problem. If I turned the car all the way ad tried to start it the carb would just flood out. So I just turned it to where it would prime the system, then turn it back wait then turn it to start and it would just start up everytime.

I drove that car to the storage I had it at, and even with the stock pump, the edelbrick I had made that thing run crazy.

20 mm freeze plugs will block off the coolant ports for the intake. Much easier than trying to tap and thread allen plugs in.

they were already tapped 1/2"dia when I got the car. One of my neighbors deals in farm machinery and industrial engines, so he's finding me a couple 1/2"dia x 1/2"depth allen socket plugs.
