getto camera mount

Been wanting to put when in for when i go autocross and maybe just crusing when I get it running good enough to do that. That do you think? Please be nice i got like $3 INVESTED in this well made camera mount. LOL

The first pic is from the camera's point of view. Everything worked fine on the test run still need a strap mount.

the seatback might vibrate as you drive. Not only is it hinged at the bottom, you're loosely mounting metal to metal.

Might want to have rubber inserts in the holes acting as dampeners between the metal bar and headrest uprights. It might help to have someone sit in that seat as you drive, provided they can keep their head out of the lens.

Yea I am gonna be rubber coating the part and using a rubber hose under the camera to help with vibration

It needs alot more stiffness. Try crossbracing or something if you can. It will vibrate too much mounted there. I could never get good footage with my 8mm camcorder. I cobbled a great setup I used to use on the IT7 car though. I bought a 12vdc vcr cheap from parts express and a cheap small camera off ebay. Worked great except when I fender or airdam mounted it cause I used its internal mic. So once you got past 20mph the audio was all static (easy fix by using a cockpit mic). If your camcorder accepts an external cam, then go that route. The video you can get is awsome and its alot cheeaper than the cone cam. (wow looked for their website and its bye bye).

I ll post video tomorrow of this in use in the camry. My camera dont even have sound I need to ge my GF's and test fit it since it is what I will be using during the races.

what class are you autocrossing in? i know here they are pretty strict about what camera mounts you use. but that should pass inspection easy enough!

I made a similar mount last week actually. I've tested it out and the vibration isn't too bad. I basically made some modifications to this design. I'll post pics and vids up when my computer isn't borked

Here's what I did in my WRX before I got the bar thats pictured and the camera mount made to mount to that bar or roll cage. It worked pretty good, but there was a bit of unstableness to it due to the mounting to the seat. But my suspension was stiff as hell in that car.

Exactly. I made one out of PVC tubing. Setting the camera in 'action' mode took all the vibration out and filmed my runs at Buttonwillow Raceway during last years Mazfest.

Mounting a camera

I fitted a rear view camera - not the recording type but just to replace the rear view mirrors. Quite proud of my efforts
