I'm just a relic I suppose. I prefer the traditional stock appearance of the wheels. its also more practical. Form following function is my motto. At any rate, everyone has their own preference, just be sure you're prepared for the consequences of modifying what the team of educated engineers originally thought was the best design..

Chiron, there's some kind of interference on your post, a flashing thing in the lower right that makes it hard to see what you are saying. Can you turn those things off or down?

the racing beat spec 7 springs are a inch lower than stock, however there are several "dead coils" on them... dead meaning they are ment to be cut if your cars height needed to be altered more than just one inch... i have never cut mine because i like the height they gave me right off the bat...

It seems mmy only option is to go coilovers with this car. I didnt want to since no double adjustable (height wise) coilovers are available right out of the box. (greddy just released them for my corolla and i dont know how i lived without them) I am concerned with bumpsteer and binding of the rear but it is something i have to live with i guess. thankfully respeed makes the bumpsteer spacers. We are (me and a buddy) into making an adapter to run corolla front tubes so we can go with greddy fronts something like a neg rollcenter adjuster (add's about 2 deg neg camber right off the bat. and reduces bumpsteer ) even though we dont really need them since the car will be double height adjustable.

With these adapters we can match the bolt holes on both the FB LCA and the ae86 strut tubes. while adding some neg camber to the LCA .

In the mean time a found a new NA rotary so things are oving quickly for me.

hopefully i can get you guys some pics of my 15x8' 0's on the rear i will be taking measurements for the strut tubes asap

It is already low. When you can open the door and pick up something off the ground without leaving your seat, lowering it is the "waste of money".

thats a matter of opinion, personally a slammed fb on a nice set of wheels makes the car look so much more aggressive.

compare a stock height fb on 13" stock rims

throw some tastefull 16" rims with a lip, and dump the car, it looks like it actually means business.

I'm all for lowering RX7's so long as it either remains neutral or adds performance some place. If it doesn't do anything besides "look" like something... that's like pretending to be something you aren't. I think lowering the car definitely looks nice especially with some good rims but going backwards in engineering design is not my style. IMO, if you want to do something, either stay neutral or take a step forward but never a step backwards.

As for binding in the rear... why live with it? if you are going to do the suspension, just do it right the best way you can. The entire panhard / trilink kit is less than $600 and all you need is a few weld spots. Most any machine shop can do this for you. At the very least you can PB&J mod the original bushings so they flex better at $0 cost and all that needs is a few hours of time. ISC Racing also makes some rear coil adjusters so you can have a fully adjustable coil setup in both front and rear.

Here are some pictures of what I did on mine:

And the PB&J mod on the upper bushings...

building this car for a track terror (1/4 mile or rd race ) is not my intent. i have a fast car already and a competant "**** around" drift car this car needs to look cool. thats it. nothing more. if it rides like **** or hits stuff i dont care. i want SICK wheel fitament and dangerously oilpan smashing low. i want nice seats a wood steering wheel and a loud *** exhaust. if i have to go coilovers for that then it will come. if it "gets snap oversteer" i dont care i am not gonna push it. As you can see with the 240 i have a pretty car to hit the track in . this will be a pretty car to hit the street and cruise slow and low.

lowering a car is a waste of money? how about any modification to a car is a waste of money. that is the dumbest comment ever. If i wanted to leave it stock i would. if i cared about what is "proper wheel fitament" i would buy some horrible + 30 kosei K1's and not put any spacers on them. I want rolled fenders and scraping..

so back to the topic at hand.

Hoods who knows whats up with Fiberglass. I hate Carbon fiber raw my corolla has a raw carbon hood and im dying to paint it. but this car needs some sort of Uras vent or something retarded in the hood. anyone know anythign about vents that sit flush. ?

has anyone seen the REamimeya louvered hoods?

also is there any other front bumpers without the HUGE cut out with some sort of lip all i see is the Mariah and the Raceon and i dont plan on running a turbo nor a FMIC so those bumpers seem like a waste to me.

this thread is all about looks boys so lets get to talking stretching tires and rolling fenders.

also Jareth you have to cut the freaking strut tower to run these camber plates are those respeed?

or is this a track car you are trying to get some caster out of?

i would rather spend the 600 on sweet wheels then fix the binding in the rear.

In order to run the caster / camber plates you don't have to cut the towers but I did as having a fully adjustable setup that is not adjustable because the tower was there didn't appeal to me. Lots of folks just install the plates without cutting and don't seem to have any problems though lack any real adjustability. I wanted a full range of adjustment since that was what they were designed for and I was doing the work anyways.

Here is a link to the Respeed installation that didn't have the tower modified.

Alright guys. The kid wants to do it his way. Let him do it his way. He clearly won't listen to any of the people who've been around for a while, and been there and done that.

Cool

This is how you lower a 1st Gen.
Rear: Eibach 200# springs, cut 2 dead coils.
Cut rear fender wells and add flares (Search on Slammed_GSL for how to)
Front: Eibach 7in/2.50 in dia/400# springs, Koni Adjustable shocks.
UWeld coilover kit and Camber plates (Search on Slammed_GSL for how to)

Add 15 in wheels and lower to your liking

and you are done....easy.....skillz are required.

Search is your friend.

Sounds like you are looking to do a VIP look on a 1st Gen, I've been thinking about it myself....would look sick if done right.

^^^How do you find the 400Lb springs on the street?
I went for 350Lb but I'm starting to think that wasn't hard enough.

Uweld kit, coilover kit and front and rear springs are all from Ground Control.
I called and told them what I wanted to do and they set me up.
400lb in the front is perfect, I can't put my finger between the fender and the wheel and it doesn't rub, only on a extreme camber change at high speed.
I can go harder in the front and rear if I want....rear is still too bouncy, Tokico HP's in the back, might change out to Illumina adjustables in the rear to help.

Oh and I love your Carbon fiber products...drool.
