Hey all, My name is Bryan, i hail from Charlotte, NC, born in Huntsville AL may 14 1987. i just picked up a 79 RX7, my guess the base S model. Got the car for 202.02 off ebay 2 days ago, and plan on making it streetable. 200hp would be nice. I am a Dental Tech (i basically make dentures/partials/individual teeth/implants) and hope to soon get my High school diploma. No, i didnt drop out, stuff came up in life that school got in the way of (lets just keep it personal), but i am returning for a degree and then off to college.

Hi, my name is Jens and this is my 5th RX-7, first 1st gen though. Been through 2 FC's and 2 FD's before landing my '85 GSL-SE. Saved it from a wrecking yard and impending crushing death. Currently deciding on what to do with it so more to come from me soon. As far as I go, I'm a typical rotorhead.

hello, my name is Carlos Nunez,
I just registered a couple minutes ago and dove right in here. A brief intro for now as its getting late here. I have owned an 80 RX-7 for about 4 years. I bought it from a good friend who was the second owner (since 80). The car has only instrument cluster original. i will share the rest in a couple of days when I have more time to write. The car is awesome. Gets a lot of looks. Will post pic soon too. Will be back in a couple of days with more.

Hi i'm Rocco 28 years old and from The Netherlands Europe.
I been working on import cars for about 10years now and i've recently sold my fully built Honda Prelude Turbo(500bhp). Couldn't get the power to the ground and had to let her go after 4.5 years of ownership.
I needed something new to work on, something different then a piston engine, so the RX-7 was what i went for. I needed a light weight body(less weight is less roadtax over here), and rearwheel drive. So i've bought a reasonably good conditioned 1984 RX-7 (SE??).It's not fast yet but it's going to be fast soon
Mods done so far:
1)Stripped interior and custimized doorpanels
2)2 Race bucket seats
3)Upgraded stereo system
4)Custom suspension(custom dampers,coilovers and springs)
Future mods:
1)13b REW (I'll buy one within a month or 2 and rebuild it with 3mm apex seals)
2)Tranny(need to study some more about options)
3)Custom Driveshaft(For hard Dragrace/Streetrace launches)
4)KAAZ diff(Get the power to the ground)
5)T78 turbo(Create some lag to get a good launch, and major power up top)
6)Custom 4 inch exhaust
7)Standalone management(Need to study some more about options)
i'll try and upgrade my site as i go along

hello my name is Erich im 19 i bought an Rx-7 a few months back. i really enjoy driving it i fell in love with the rx-7 when i saw my roomates GSL-SE so i bought my own. its a 79 gen 1, its grey and the interior is horrible. but i love it. i bought it from a guy who had it for awhile but never really took care of it. the most he did was race it so the new 13b engine only had 50,000 miles on it. he also put in dual weber offroad carbs with k&n filters, it was also port and polished during the engine swap. I LOVE THIS CAR. unfortunatly i havent been able to drive it because it will not pass emissions. after a breif time of me trying to sell it i have given up and gave into my own selfish desires to keep the car. emissions go away in colorado jan1 and you bet your *** im gonna keep a countdown to when they go away so i can get her licensed and start beating those hondas that race downtown again. until then restoration work. cant wait until i can afford a turbo kit.......tee hee.

the name is jeremy, the car is an 83 RX7 I bought a few weeks ago. Everything on it is stock, which will be changing when money permits. Im not familure with rotarys or what you can do with them. But from what i read on here, looks like i'll be able to get my money's worth.
As for me, Im 22 and comming up on my 3rd year in the service. Proudly serving in the Air Force as a jet mechanic. Right now i am stationed in Anchorage Alaska, but soon to be headed to Korea. That will be fun.
As a side note, i stumbled apon this site, thought it was really great, and am glad to be part of the group. Thanks!

Hello,
I am new to this site also. I am replying because I used to be in the service and I now currently work at Seymour Johnson AFB in North Carolina. I am a civil service employee here, and one of my friends who works with me is moving to Anchorage Alaska in a few months to work in PMEL. Cool huh. I thought that was interesting. I am new to the whole Rotary RX-7 thing myself, so maybe we can learn a thing or two huh. Nice talking to you. Sincerely,
Brad Pabst

Hello
Hello to all,
as you can tell by my screen name, my name is Brad Pabst. I am 27 years old and I live in North Carolina where I work for the Department of Defense as an electronics technician. I am a proud owner of a 1979 RX-7. I am new to the whole rotary engine world, so I am thankful for this forum. I have been signed up as a member for a few months, but have not participated until now. You guys are awesome. I hope to learn a lot from you all, and I hope not to ask too many "Stupid questions" I am no master mechanic, but I am no stranger to engines either as I used to have a 1989 Saab 900 Turbo which I loved. I kept that car running for a few years, but had to move and got rid of it. I work with a guy who had three RX-7's and he sold mine to me for $400 dollars cash. The engine and tranny have less than 15,000 miles on them, which as I understand it is low low mileage for a rotary. It definitely needs body work, and a few engine components like a radiator, (which I am in the process of ordering), and new plugs, wires and hoses, but the frame is straight, and everything else seems to be in great shape. I am looking forward to bringing her around into a sweet running machine. Thanks for listening. Sincerely,
Brad Pabst

Hey everyone,
My name is Brad. I am 20 years old and live in San Diego. I currently own an 04 mazda 3 and an 81 RX 7 which is strictly for autoX. I am running no smog stuff, a mikuni sidedraft carb 15X7 diamond racing wheels with toyo ra 1 tires. My suspension and drivetrain is pretty much stock. I did upgrade to a GSL SE rear end with steel brake lines all around. I am working on getting a new fuel pump and pressure regulator working correctly. The car runs great and I have a blast in it. Slowly but surely things will be upgraded. Next on the list is a clutch and a smaller steering wheel.
I also owned a 91 NA for a couple years. I miss that car alot. Never should have sold it.
Anyway this is a great forum I am finding tons of helpful info!
Rotor on!

Personal Info
Name is Wayne, live in Charlotte, NC. Purchased my 79 RX7 in Dec 78 and along with my two grown sons, who drove it through there teenage years, have thoroughly enjoyed it. Has about 150000 miles on it, body is in excellent condition and overall mechanically good as well. Trying to find someone close by to do a little tuning and need to do a little work on exhaust (anyone recommend headers that will pass NC inspection?).

My name is Stephanos (its greek) I live in Alamo, CA. Got ahold of a 1984 gsl 2 years ago with less than 20,000 miles on it. It was sitting in some old guys garage who had only driven it to the grocery store once in a while since his daughters went to college. Impeccable condtion aside from the antenna motor, which has a broken gear. There are no mods on the car but im looking to get some new wheels. Any ideas/suggestions?

What's up. My name is Joker. I'm from Bloomington IN. I own an '85 FB-GSL. Right now it's pretty stock with the 12A. The only thing done to it right now is the removal of all of the emissions so that I can go around shooting fireballs at people (fun). I'm attempting to locate a 13B-RE to put in it but I'm having trouble finding one for cheap. Of course the main goal is to stick a 20B-REW in it, but that will be a little ways off.
Anyways I hope to meet everybody in the Indiana area to chill and do a little "cruising". If anybody would like to offer any tips/advice, I'll gladly accept. I'm still kinda new to the world of the rotary, but I'm eager to learn.

Hey Folks, I'm Tyson From B.C. Canada. Loved Rx7's ever since was a kid. When i was 16 bought an 85 Gs in 97 with 80,000km for 3,000. About a year later i got caught in red light turning left, i got mad a the uncoming car, reved it and pumped the clutch with lot of noise and a little smoke a cop saw the whole deal and impounded her. Went down to pick her up 3 weeks later to find that the tow yard SOLD MY CAR! completely illegal! This was never rectified and i vowed to burn the place down, but life moved along things changed but i still wanted to fill that void that was my car. So a few years ago, i couldn't sleep one night, did a little surfin and found and identical 85 but gsl. Well to cut this short as i can, would up being an amazingly cute girl selling it. I made dinner part of the deal and we went out then were engaged for 3 years. Last fall however she had an accident on a mountain road and passed away shortly there after. I have since retired the car i bought from her fixed it up best i could and parked her. I still take it for the odd cruise but i bought another identical white 85 GSL for my every other daily driver. If you read this and it bummed you out, don't feel badly. Things like this just help us to appreciate our own lives and not be such nerds and take what we got for granted!!

Sorry to hear that tg, this should remind us all to drive more carefully and appreciate how precious life really is.
I've been reading and posting on this forum for about 4 years and never noticed this post, despite my only slightly subaverage IQ. So as a result there is hardly anything to add, most members having already been sufficiently annoyed by my well-meaning but probably offensive posts that are meant to contain at least some useful information learned from my rather extensive personal experience with these cars - 4 years X 30,000 miles per year and I do all the repairs and maintenance. All in fun, I assure you.
One thing I like about the forum is how it brings together people from all walks of life over a fairly abstract issue - the fact that we all drive and appreciate 1st gen RX7s. While this does tend to select for young driver's with their first cars (because 7's are abundant and inexpensive, I suppose), older dudes reliving their childhoods (I'm in this category) and middle-aged racers reliving their childhoods, it still opens up some lines of communication between people who probably would otherwise not have much to do with each other.
Also, occaisionally when my car develops a new problem I haven't learned about yet, the forum is the first place to go.
So thanks to all members of the 1st gen RX-7 community for making this thing work.
So here's the details:
Age: 54
Profession: Research scientist, college professor
Number of RX7's: 3
Years driving 7s: 5
Years since 1st wanting an RX-7: 26
Favorite model: GSL, stock except exhaust and some performance details
Marital status: Married (finally)
Number of kids: Hard to say, depends on how you count
Number of animals: 4 goats, 3 dogs, 7 pond fish, 1 cat, 1 horse
Website with lots of pictures: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/479957
Current daily driver (best one yet!):

Hi im Eric and im 16 and live in lovely CT. i have been around a spark yellow SA my whole life. it was my dads and around when i was born he stoped driving it. when i turnd about 13 i reall started getting in to rx7s and did alot of resurch on them and printed out pics and tried to learn as much as possible. and also at that time i started to save all my money so that when i drive i can get a 7. since then i have saved a little over 2k but now my dad wont let me get an rx7. over the past few yrs my interest has been growing more and more every day, rx7s are the only thing i can really think about. girls also but mostly rx7s. it hurts my performance in school and i have found that i dont care. most recently i have been thinking about trying to rebuild my dads, but im real scared about rebuilding the motor(its shot). i do have a very good understanding on how the car works but im just worried that i may really screw somthing up(he wouldnt care but i would). i have tried to get my dad back into 7s and mabye have him help with the rebuild. he dosnt want to, but that dosnt really bother me. i would like to rebuild this car by myself with minimal help from other people on the actual building part. i will probly be asking a million questions here. i would like to just have a running 7 to get me to meets, work, and school. yea, thats my story
#297
My name is Bryan, I have a 1979 12a. I am 19 years old. Yes, I will admit, I do ask tons of questions, but I never do it without searching. This is my 2nd RX7, and I will admit, I love them! I love working on cars, and I will definately do my own work before even thinking about asking someone else to do it for me. my first RX I had to sell for financial reasons (it was basically a roller), but that didnt net me enough money. I then bought a 1994 Mitsubishi Diamante with no engine for 100$, dropped an engine in there, got it running, and sold it for 2000. with that money... yep, I bought my dream car... ANOTHER RX7 (again). I have been hooked on these cars since I dreamed of having a RWD car (my other is a 02 Mazda Protege... call me a mazda fanboy), so why not a rotary?
#298
my names justin im 20, this is my first rotary car and im loving it i came from the world of 5.0 mustangs with the intent of doing a 5.0swap into my 83gsl but after driving it the little engine that could grew on me. at first i was kind of scared of the whole rotary deal but after doing lots of research i discoverd its really not all that bad. ilke the car so much im putting my 62falcon resto on hold till i get the car in tip top shape again. at the moment im saving up so i can rebuild my 12a with a streetport and a few suporting mods.

Hey all. My name is Brendan, and I'm 16. I drive a stock 85 FB and am loving it. This is my first car... Saved it from my mom. =P My family stopped driving it about 6-7 years ago and THANKFULLY my dad didn't sell it to our neighbor. I've been reading on this forum a lot and its really fun to learn about Rx7s in general and apply it to the car. ahah. I actually just learned how to change the oil today, and that sparked my interest even more! I'm planning to keep the car mostly stock for a long time, especially with the reliability of the 12a. I love the light weight of the car and the handling in the twisties. I DD my FB, and love every bit of it, especially the quirks of being an fb driver. ahah. hope to see some of you at meets or just cuisin around. take care!

Hey everybody, my name's Max and I'm 17. I live in Western North Carolina, right beside WCU. (10 mins from the parkway, 1 hour from the dragon!). I grew up a muscle car and old Harley kid. But, my first memory of a car was my brothers 2nd gen RX7.(oh god...so good). I've always loved old Japanese muscle like 70s skylines, 510s, Laurels, 280Zs...Datsun anyone?
But, a few years back(all of 2) I got into RX7s. I hated how everyone drove a Honda, so I wanted an RX7 for my first car, and I got a Mustang instead (not my choice). I just got an 84 GSL and I'm rebuilding it. Cant wait to drive it. I have a fairly good knowledge of cars since I work at a local garage, but not wonderful by any means. Currently rebuilding a Jaguar V12 and constantly fixing the Mustang . I love this forum, its really helpful!
I also love music, everything from trip-hop to death metal. Metal is the predominant one though. Go Job For A Cowboy!... love to meet people from my area too!
Two lovesrumming and Rotaries
Hope to see everyone at Deals Gap soon!
