gas milage

I've been searching around the forums trying to figure out why my gas milage is so horrible. I know my cats are probably clogged, but how much would that reduce gas milage by? I finally decided to measure, the last time i filled up, and i seem to be gettin around 19 L / 100 km, which is horrible. Its a stockport 12a, carbed. I know that I have a leak in the tank, which is why i keep the gas below half all the time, and I figured that some of it still is evaporating, but does that account for how much gas i seem to be losing?

It's about 12.5 MPG. Pretty poor. My old 12a '79 would get about 16MPG with a heavy right foot in city traffic. Gas evaporates quite quickly, so my guess is that you're losing it there. I would also replace all tune-up parts if you haven't recently. If it's been a while, new plugs, wires, dist cap and filters will increase your engine's efficiency. I also wouldn't light a match around your car if I were you!

Hmm...sorry bout the km/l thing mcnannay, i'll try to remember that, lol. As for the tune-up parts, they're all new except the dizzy cap, i could try that. But, from what it looks like, I guess it seems like i'm going to need to drop the tank.

How much louder will the car be with the stock exhaust, and the bricking in the cats broken out?
