Fuel System Pressure
I'm running a 48 IDA weber and one of the things I'm seeing is that I'm getting some fuel system pressure which is building up and venting through one of the lines. I don't have the charcoal canister anymore, which I'm assuming is the issue, but I wanted to ask here.
The carb doesn't have a return line like the stock setup. After running the car for a while I can smell a little gas. The lines to the charcoal canister are plugged and when I unplug them, I of course release the pressure and see some gas coming out.
Is the solution as easy as hooking back up the charcoal canister? Or is there something else that I need to check before doing that?

What pump and fpr are you running? The charcoal canister traps vapors from pressure build up in the tank. When I remove the canister, I leave the line to it open. That way pressure uildup isn't forced into the carb.

I'm running a holley pump and regulator. I'm building positive pressure in the tank. I don't know why. I'm getting fuel vapor (and a little bit of fuel) out of the lines that usually go to the charcoal canister.

You shouldn't be getting any fuel at all from the vent tube. It terminates just inside the top of the tank roof. It may be that the vapors are condensing in the tube and being pushed out by thermal expansion. Not sure if fuel vapor can even re-condense. Re-installing the canister will probably solve your issue.

yes fuel vapor can recondense. thats why they have evap canisters. so the fuel vapor can recondense and then be used. on my line from the fuel tank i just intalled a small fuel filter and left one end open. so any vapor or what not can vent to atmosphere. also no dirt or debris can get in. im also now using a return style fpr to make sure im not getting too much fuel pressure at the carb.
