fuel starvation is killing me

84 rx7 12a running aeromotive tsunami fuel pump 1/2" aluminum pickup and return lines goin to original sump box in fuel tank. I'm running a fuel injected 12a motor with a roots blower pushing 14psi boost through water to air intercooler on 9.5 compression. I can't get the motor above 6,000 rpm in first or second without fuel drop. Who has mofied thier fuel tank to stop fuel starvation? Is anyone else using a tsunami pump?

That's a big no no and a quick way to blow your engine. You either need an SE fuel tank or a surge tank.

This is what I did. Custom surge tank, Carter lift pump and Bosch 500hp main pump.

I'm using the first gen 13b fuel injected fuel tank. My fuel pickup and return tubes are located at the exact same place as the fuel injection tubes were. I was using a surge tank setup with a Holley blue fuel pump at 14psi feeding it and was suffering from fuel presure loss. I removed the surge tank setup and ran the fuel pump off of the 1/2" lines I just installed. Even on a completely fuel tank of fuel I have issues, so I think the tsunami pump also is inadequete. the fuel starvation can get real bad below 3/4 tank. I'm really interested to know if someone has installed an aftermarket sump setup on this car. How much horse power are you pushing?

Well in that case I'd be looking at the components upstream from the tank. The Tsunami pump should be adequate unless it's faulty or damaged. What regulator are you running?

They do low which is about 1" and super low which is 2". I have lows on the front and super lows on the back. That makes the back sit about 5mm lower then the front which is ideal.

Where are the different components mounted? How far is the Holley from the fuel tank and what are the distances between the Holley, the surge tank and the FI pump?

I had a Holley blue mounted where 13Beef has his Carter and with a 7/16" supply line from the tank, the Holley wouldn't even prime itself. If I stuck an 8" long 3/8" hose on the suction side and dropped that in a gas can, it would draw and pump. I'm wondering that if between the 1/2" lines and FI pump down stream, the Holley may be cavitating.

the holley surge tank setup is now out of the car. I am now running the aeromotive setup straight from the tank.

It's a very strange problem indeed then. Maybe there's a restriction in one of the lines?

I would start with cleaning/changing the fuel filters. Just for clarification, you replaced the pickup/return tubes in the tank with 1/2", or are the stock ones still in place?

The fuel pickup and returns inside of the tank are 1/2" aluminum tubing.
