As I informed you in your thread that gave you the link to here for the mods that I did for fuel economy. The information for the coil upgrade has been well covered and is in the archives.

I just did a new search now and could not find the thread but found other positive reporting threads.

Any body care to comment nonsarcastically on an internet search where I found one guy who heats ( Yea..... H E A T S ) his gas up to about 180 deg F with heat from his coolant and claims great gas mileage improvements My interpretation is that at the moment this 180 deg F or so fuel mixes with air it will atomize better. Then afterwards it cools down too from the incoming air.ctors for the 12a in regards to mileage improvements as the purpose of the acetone to to better atomize the fuel into the air.
It makes sense that if you pre-heated the fuel that the gas mileage would go up. Basically if you look at the Otto cycle: cycle link T/S diagram, that'd be bumping the pre-ignition temperature up, which is getting you more work per cycle without changing the recycle leg. A rough cold air efficiency calc is efficiency = 1 - (T1/T2), so trending T2 up should bump you higher. Since the auto ignition temperature of gasoline will be higher than the exhaust temperature, you should be safe from premature ignition. The trick, I'd imagine, is coming up with a way of doing this that heats the gasoline safely (allowing for the significant increase in vapor pressure) and doesn't restrict either the flows of the exhaust or the gasoline. You could probably also get away with doing something like this with the intake air, again the fluid flow is an issue. I'm not sure (given the vP issue) that I'd be happy-go-lucky trying this, but it looks like something that might be worth giving a shot.

Great thread. Very interesting on the different combinations giving different and sometimes similar mpg.

Just giving a confirmation that the 2nd gen coil yields a 1.5 MPG increase on my SE versus the stock SE coil . I have tested this on many runs with the same circumstances and each time without the 2nd gen coil I lost 1.5 MPG.

Next I am going to try a Harley Davidson coil. My buddy has a Harley repair/parts shop and Harley coils have 2 outlets and they fire at the same time so I am curious as to how it would perform on my SE.

I think it might be useful to also post what kind of plugs you were using. On behalf of this community thanks again for taking the time to do all this and posting it. I know how time consuming that is.
