Front Sway Bar Links

So im doing some front suspention work and im having a real hard time removing the front swaybar end links from the lower control arms. does anyone have any tips that i could use? ive tried using a impack, ive put the whole lower control arm on a vise but the bolt which make up the link wont come loose?

Try to take off only one nut at a time.

Hack saw the bolt................

Use a nut splitter.................

The bolt is probably frozen inside the metal tube that acts as a spacer. You will have to cut it off...

I've never had much luck removing original end links from these cars using just wrenches, almost always have to cut them off, no big loss since you should replace them at this point anyway. good luck!

I also had to cut/heat/PB blaster my spacers, they were right screwed by the time I got them off

... and when you put the new one on, coat the bolt inside the jacket with a good anti-sieze compound to keep it from freezing up and restricting the movement that was intended to be there. The mechanical world would be a lot better place if everyone used this stuff on all joints, nuts and bolts.

Thats the truth! Anti-sieze makes everyting come apart so much easier in the future, I use it on all suspension components.
