front end collision-i want to repair it-pt. 2 detailed pics

ok, started working on the car here and there. i was able to remove the headlight motor and get a better look at the damage there. i was able to see where the lower frame rail was bent and know where i need to measure. the impact even caused the hood latch to buckle. glad i have spares! here are some updated pics. i will start cutting after i take measurements from both cars.

i will be taking measurements today and comparing my measurement results with those from the fsm. this will tell me how far out my lower rail is. im picking up a shell next week that i'm using for the spare front "clip". i will post the results of the measurements.

yeah, its just kinda been put on the back burner. its kept garaged all year round so i'm not too worried about the car rotting away. i just want to practice some cutting and welding skills and put the car back together. it'll be a challenge thats for sure. i just can't see parting an L6 car..

I pulled a front end on a car I been messing with just a few weeks ago. It was on a professional frame machine at my uncles shop but after helping him do his magic, which I used to do also... I realized I prob could of done the same thing @ home with two come-alongs, a sledge, telephone pole and a tree. The RX pulled back into shape quite the easy.
Anyways, take measurements from points on one side front to back, and diagonaly across, and side to side... and just make sure they are all semetricly the same. That's how you'll know if your done pulling.
Chopping off what looks bad and replacing might not put things back into wack 100%... Measuring is the only way to tell for sure.
The car I'm bringing back to life was close, not perfect measuring wise... and I bet you'd never be able to tell.

definatly great advice!! it has bnds at the firewall on each side. i plan on using the tree and come along method to fix that. the front end metal is just wo warped and distored that i dont think i'm good enoug to save it. thus i guess the option of cutting just before the srut towers remains my best option..

yes, definatly bring her. if we go out to the barn at my inlaws shes more than welcome to come too. my wife will want to go an dsee her folks so it would work out great. then you can look at the GS and see what you think about teh cutting and maybe throw some advice my way...or we'll get drunk and go get a plasma cutter and a welder and see what transpires with this front end, lol j/k.

it just may be..we'll have to lay off the booze, lol. i took some more pics of the damage near the firewall tonight. a little buckled but not project ending. i think it'll pull out.:
i tossed a hood on it to keep the cats and filth out and it lines up pretty well. a little close on the passenger side but i guess thats to be expected.
