FRont disc swap for an 83

Has anyone ever taken the front discs from an 84-85 gsl-se and put them on a regular 79-85 rx7. Are the disc sizes different or something? I want the 4x114.3mm bolt pattern on as opposed to the 4x110mm for the front and don't want to use spacers. Any input would be appreciated.

You cannot bolt on the Se rotors to a 83 because of larger outer bearings on the 84-85 models. Plus the fact that to have the Se bolt pattern for the rear you would need the complete rear end from the se also. The axles are larger on the se so you could not put Se axles in your 83 rear end assembly either.

I just finished putting in an 8.8 ford rearend that has a 4x4.5 bolt pattern and i'm trying to get the same for the front. I don't know what all options i have but i didn't know if the SE would just go right in. Has anyone ever tried redrilling the front discs to the spacing they desire? There's a machinist at my work that says he can either redrill them for me or make me a guide so I could drill them and others for future break changes. I'm just trying to look at all my options before i make a decision.

I don't recommend any type of redrilling on brake rotors. That is a major safety concern. Best bet is to get some used Se front strut housings, rotors and calipers.
