Front cover and oil pan questions

I want a s4 motor to be put in a first gen. I have a 12 a front cover. Will the 12a front cover work with the s4 oil pan? Will the bolt holes match up? Thanks a ton. IF they dont will a gslse oil pan and a 12a front cover match up on a s4 motor? Thanks.

You need a gsl-se oil pan and the 12a front cover. You will need the 12a-13b adapter kit (for the mounts) as well.

Or if you can find an se oil pan AND an se front cover, you won't need the adapter kit and everything will still line up right.

Well its not going in a rx7 so im not too worried about the adapter kit. Im using a custom mounting bracket that mounts to the motor using the frint mount 4 bolt style. Thanks a ton watson.

The following applies to an RX-7 (through series 3) The only thing you really need to buy is the front cover. You can heat the oil pan up with a torch and work it into shape. (remove from the engine first-obvious, but you never know some people, lol)

You can modify the 12A motor mount to work by welding some extra metal to the ends and then redrilling the holes. This seems like the obvious solution and is so easy and inexpensive I don't know why people buy "adapter kits."

im just curious about the bolt holes will the s4 bolt holse line up in the 12a front cover and motor. Its going in a b2200 so im not worried about the pan clearing anything just the ability to bolt together and hold oil.

Why can't you just use the s4 front cover and oil pan then? I don't know much about the swap into a b2200.

i need the 4 bolt front mount position of the 12a to reuse the custom bracket on it. Bracket is already made and i want to reuse it on the 13b so the fab is minimal.
