front brake calipers
Strange noise whenever I hit a bump or pothole. I think the sound is coming from my Front Brake calipers. My front brake caliper backets are bolted securely to the spindles but the actual calipers them selves are both loose. Drivers side as well as passenger side. But the passenger side is a little more loose than the other. The fluid is fresh...bled...lots of brake pad left. Ported engine with power assisted brakes. What do you think is up? I love spanking those damn VTEC's and most V8 cars but I gotta stop...my car.

I think the noise you are hearing is actually coming from the pads.... take the pads out and put a beed of silicone on the backside of eachone and re-tighen everything and your problem should be gone. Also you'll have a chance to double check that everything is proper.

well there is an anit-rattle spring that hold the calipers together....looks like a bent up coat hanger (kinda like a messed up "s" shape). They wrap around the back from one pad to the other. Those should be in there. then there are clip like deals at each end of the pad that holds the pads in there, all those keep the pads from sliping out and bumping around, making racket.

Alright, I just jacked up my car, took off both tires/wheels. Inspected the brake pads/calipers And guess what: NO clips on the passenger side and one broken clip on the drivers side. I'll replace them with new clips and do the bead of silicone trick. I'll post the results in a while. Thanks for the 411.
