Friendly Invitation to all 1st-Gen guys
A thread just popped up on the "Other Rotary" forum regarding their treatment as the redheaded stepchild of the generation-specific forums. It got me thinking, since we go to GSL-SEs and FBs for new hardware, and go to SAs for brakes and stuff that'll still fit, that there's not much info shared between the two forums.
I was an FB guy for a long time, sold the car, came across an RX-2, and moved into the "Other" section. When I was squirting around in the FB, though, I never knew that there were Mazda rotaries before 78 and wish now that I had done more looking.
That said, you're all invited to stop by and say hello, and I hope to spend more time in here as well. Between the Cosmo 110s, R100, RX-2, RX-3, RX-4, RX-5 Cosmo, REPU (Rotary Engined Pickup), there's a lot to see. There's also a lot to learn by the hundreds of thousands of FBs out there and the sheer quantity of tinkering done since the old cars were hot. Have a look, would ya, and say hello. I'll do the same.
And if you want to see some truly sick cars, ausrotary.com has as many old-schoolers as they do RX-7s, and it seems that there are NO beaters. Everything's badass, so long as you can read and speak Aussie.

kidding welcome to the 1st gen section.
I will have to interest myself in some reading in the other rotary section since I have nothing else to do when Im at work.

i'm there every now and then. actually it's pretty cool because there isn't as much crap in there.
i'd love to get an Rx-2 one of these days. i had my heart set on getting a Cosmo 110S until i realized how rare they are. i had the great fortune of seeing and touching one on Long Island several years ago. if only i knew then what i know now ...

I have tons of respect for old school guys, and it's seems we have a lot more in common than with FC/FD people. In many ways the 1st gen is treated as the "redheaded stepchild" of RX-7's, so I know where you're coming from. I used to own an RX-2... I miss it, and plan to find an RX-3 in the future.

Hey, that's me in my 'ol SP'd Dellorto'ed 13B baby GSL (with SE shoes). Nice find, Ray.
The 2 is getting painted this week. Here's my page for it, though I don't know what's happened to page 2.

I feel a kindred spirit with the old school rotaries. It was the RX-2,3,4s that got me interested; it was a ride in an RX-2 that hooked me.
My friend in 1979 had an old Cosmo and lent me the $300 down payment for my current SA.
Old school all the way. I miss the vintagerotary.com site.
