Free 4-wheel discs for GSL-SE?
My GSL-SE has drums in the back. My 626 always had four-wheel non-abs discs. I have the complete brake system for a 1987 626 GT, including hubs and rotors, but also the hosing and the M/C. I have basically no use for them, and I was wondering if I could use the discs on my GSL-SE?

Well, it's not my daily driver, only my little bother has ever driven it... because there is no motor in there. [figures] When I get that 13B fixed up then we may see discs.

Sound like someone that had the car before you want the rear end for another car or maybe had a problem with it so they swaped it for a drum rear!
I do not know if that rear disk would fit or not but if it was me I would try to get an OEM 4 disk unless the other bolts up nicely.
I would not want to do too many mods.
Good luck

Seems like I have two oddball rx-7's that don't seem to add up... that's what you get for shopping at junkyards!
Well, the system is a OEM, not OEM RX-7.

What rims are on it???? If there aint discs, it isn't an SE, someone couldve made a fakie. Unless, you've had it forever. You should get a carfax report on your car and find out for sure. Guys on the forum can and usually will do it for you.

Like winnipeg said, What kind of rims do you have? The drum rears from first gens and the front suspension on the SE have different bolt patterns. So either you have 2 different rims on front and rear or your car has a complete non-SE front and rear suspension.
When you open the hood, is it fuel injected or carberated? Do you have a big blue air filter on top of the motor?

I looked through the stock gsl-se rim (polished) and saw a rusty thing, so I assumed drum... but I took it off and there is a very, very rusted disc. I think I need to have them turned they are so bad.

Really sure? My GSL-SE *does* have discs, as I recently found out, but those are most certainly drum brakes on the back of the '86. I have seen another 2nd gen with drums and 4-lugs on it, it had toyota van wheels on it as well. Mine are drums.
