flywheel question

Is there a way to hold the flywheel to unscrew the bolt other than buy the tool to hold it?

I wouldnt attempt it unless you feel like tearing something up. Its only $20 and more then worth it. http://www.mazdatrix.com/toolmisc.htm

i just got an idea. what if i use my impact wrench to get the bolts out of there. i don't think that the flywheel will spin if use that. What do you guys think?

If you have access to a compressor and air tools you could use a impact hammer and hit the flywheel bolt in the corner that will cause it to spin counterclockwise/off. It doesn't damage the bolt and gets those extra stuck ones off quick.

Make the tool to hold it. Get a 4" or so legnth of angle iron and drill two holes in one end to bolt to two of the pressure plate boltholes.

Ok, I just used a spare front motor mount. Put a bolt through the mount into where the tranny mounts on the block, and another bolt through the mount to where the clutch mounts on the flywheel. It worked great. I used a spare one in case I ruined my good one, but with how well it went, Id do it with my good one . Oh, but I also used a 3/4" impact wrench, that might have helped a little .

I managed to stop mine turning with the Air Pump bracket off a 13bt, just kinda bolted it up and wedged it in there, worked sweet.

Now that we got it off, how do we get it back on, with only a 150lb. torque wrench? Knowing it has to be torqued to approx. 350lb., I think I remember seeing some posts on using certain lenghts of pipe, but can't find them.

can you get your hands on an impact wrench. That seems to me the eaisest and the fastest way.
