Lighting up the streets at night is one of the best things about owning a rotary. I get really nice flames when I downshift and let off the gas. As far as I know it's a pretty normal thing if you have a non factory exhaust, and it doesn't hurt anything.

Well Rob, I have the Racing Beat exhaust system with a Sterling carb (so I run pretty rich compared to stock) and I have never shot any flames. You might want to check your timing, and I also recommend upgrading your ignition to the 2nd gen with the Transistor Trick (see thread referring to TT if you don't know what that is). This is about a $50.00 mod, but well worth it for the results in HP and driveability. Good luck!

For flames.... easy gut your cat, or no cat at all.... Then get your engine up to temp.... downshift so the revs shoot to about 4,000 rpm ....

let the revs drop while in gear, as you pass 3500 rpm is should backfire and shoot a nice set of flames...

I could do it all day long, on Quew.

That cat won't allow for flames. It was great! yes tailgaters slam on teir brakes or swerve when I'd let them have it. Not to mention the loud shot gun sound!!

I'd fire it off in the bad neighbor hoods in Toronto.... People would freak!!! LOL

Okay. I think everone is getting a little "out of control" about the flame issue. I hope that we can get past Vin Deisel's 3rd gen shooting flames in the F&F to see that all it takes is an advanced ignition timing, and a lot of raw fuel to get the fire going. It's not a big deal. I just called Rob on the celly to congrat him on a nice flame. Dang, I didn't realize that I would be setting off a bunch of adolecent hormones here. Makes for a long thread though. Geez.
