Cool Flame popping problem

with my new carb setup and a 3" straight pipe, im popping flames like no other, ive gotten 2 tickets for it, ive had atleast 13 people try to pull me over saying my car is on fire, at night every shift and also when the rpm's ride down the back of my car lights up blue and red and sounds like someone firing a shotgun sometimes. It was awesome at first but now im just a sitting target for pigs. How can i simmer down this flame poppin? once im driving for about an hour , i mean every shift it spits em out atleast 1 foot out the muffler. Id like to drive down the highway without the highway patrol seeing me from 1 mile away. My last ticket was $320 for noise polution and emissions.

My exhaust still pops a bit when engine braking but upgraded ignition and leaning the fuel mixture a bit helped immensly. Does your exhaust smell like gasoline? Im not sure how a RB muffler would fix this since my problem started once I put in the full RB exhaust (headers -> muffler).

Look into the 2nd Gen leading coilpack conversion, this apparently helps economy, power and the flaming exhaust pipe syndrome.

why dont you send the weber carb back to me since you did a chargeback, i have no money and no carb! that sucks!!!

the carb will backfire on deceleration since there is no fuel cut on carburated cars, unlike fuel injection.....

2GCDFIS helped my flames, but I never had 'em as bad as youre talkin about. Without it I would shoot flames whenever I let off after taking her close to redline, now I hear them only occaisionally. Maybe try leaning it out a bit too...

PS. heres the link to my writeup on 2GCDFIS Hope this helps, I know how you feel about bein a target for cops, I used to have to shift around 4k through towns to avoid fireballs...

1. Exhaust leaks
2. Retarded timing
3. Running too rich

Oh yeah, and the transistor trick 2nd gen ignition conversion kicks butt.

Now what if we would like some flame-age for shows, what would be the easiest way to do it, just timing? Not looking to go all out, maybe run the car a little rich, right now I am too rich I think (makes my bumper black).
