Fit a kamari air dam to s3 front end write up
Picked up this air dam not knowing it was meant for sa's... And I sure as hell wasn't gifting this to the gf for her 79! Aha in this write up I'll show how I fitted it to my 85.
Lined it up, and saw it would need to be modified..
Cut the tabs off the back end, and pulled the push/screw hold tight out of place. Filled down the top of the back to make it be able to fit between the panels better.
Drilled 3 holes, 2 below each of the existing holes that held the hold tight oem push, and 1 new one in the air dam. Got a bolt and put that through there. Also had to bend the most outward tab (with 2 holes) to match the angle of the air dam
Then for extra support, put two small bolts in the oem wind directional piece and threw the back of the air dam
I'll get another pic when the wheels are back on and she's off the lift. I know I'll have to raise the GC's up some so it's not scrapping 100% lol
Working on getting fiberglass reproductions made, for the gf's and maybe a few more to sell to friends who want them(:

Thanks man. That's my dads '46 convertible custom. He also has a '36 suburban and '32 ford 5window coupe in the other part of the garage He's getting ready to swap the engine in the 46. 350 crate motor, it's a cruiser car and the 350 that's in it now is strokes and cammed and too rough/strong for his wants lol

Here's mine -bolted to the bottom side, but have since moved to the Design Energy/Mariah Motorsports fiberglass which is much more durable. I actually cracked up 2 of the Kamei airdams; one which was fatigued to failure due to airflow 'flapping' the center section, and another which fell victim to a curb. I always liked the look of this design an it's very lightweight:

I had the same problem so I made a brace that attaches the center section to the metal under tray with a piece of aluminum sheet metal that I bent 2- 90 deg angles in for more stability.

Mariah - Design Energy; they still make them on your own headlight lid and is fiberglassed to the stock lid. On the -SE, it can then be modified to flow air directly into the air filter box which is right behind that side. Looking up the 'snout' you can see air filter on my car, which is the smoothest and shortest path for fresh air to go in.
