Who needs slotted or crossdrilled rotors when you can install 12" rotors and big ol' NASCAR calipers?

I have almost everything I need to make rotor hats out of GSL-SE front rotors according to Tom Turner's guidelines And then all I'd need is a strut housing from which to figure the correct caliper position, make a mock-up, and from there make a jig so that I can make the caliper brackets. And then after that, just open up an issue of Circle Track and buy the readily-available, standardized, inexpensive rotors and 4-piston calipers

I don't think very many people would be interested though...

edit: Also working up a two-piston, 11" sliding caliper setup, using readily available common GM parts, that should fit in a 13" steel rim, for 12A-brake cars. Unfortunately this setup would require modification to the GM rotor in addition to the hub (which is a cut-down Mazda rotor) which means when the rotor wears out, you can't just open up any old racing catalog and buy one for $29. I don't like the idea of being married to a single supplier - aftermarket kits should be modular. If I do make this, it'll just be for myself, sorry...

So how big can you get on a GSL without doing anything to the fenders?

Max.... very nice, looks like I should get rid of my 16's and update my car abit also. You got a great deal and the car looks tight! You gotta take some engine bay pictures of your new ride some time. Are you gonna polish motor this too?

Thanks for the comments

I'm going to roll my fender lips, its close, no rubbing yet, but I havent gone racing yet

I plan to swap in most of the shiny parts, but not to much since I'll be putting a turbo motor, I don't want to get to carried away on the N/A parts

You don't see many FBs with 17s. Especially like those. They look awesome.

I run 205/60/r13 Toyo Proxes RA-1 on my 85GS, full tread depth... So far, no problems in the rain...
