Fired and Moved my car last night.... have ?

Last night I fired the Rex to move onto the driveway to further inspect my suspension....

Started on the second try even though it has been two monthes!

Random notes and questions:

note---> I always thought the choke was completly manual until I read around this site a lil... Let the choke pull itself back in for the first time!!

?---> I think it stays in too long (starts to run rich) is there anyway to adjust this? or does my car need other tuning?

note---> When I bought my car it had a pretty bad exhuast leak at the flange before the cat. Some one had snapped off both studs leaving only enough to support the exhaust and then drilled a hole through both flanges and put a little bolt with a nut in to hold the flange together. OMG ... anways I fixed it (the right way) the night before it was hit (read my story) so I never had a chance to drive it.

?---> I noticed while moving the car last that it seemed torquey (spell check). Did fixing the exhaust leak do this or is it just my imagination?

note---> Every bushing in my front end needs help.

?---> This car handled sweet before, what am I going to think with the bushings replaced?

?---> anybody got a complete bushing kit lying around? I want to do them when I replace the control arm and maybe the struts...emm... swaybar endlinks too I thinkone is bent... might come with the above bushings?

thanks!!

I have to tune my car rich in order to get it to 'feel' normal. When I lean it up, it runs rough and at about 500 rpm. Hopefully I'll be fixing this soon after swapping intakes, but we'll see.

Because my car already runs rich, I let my car warm up to about the 'c' mark on the temperature gauge and then I push it back in a little bit. If I don't do that, then my header starts glowing dull red, which has detempered the steel (car had the system for 2 days before the guy wrecked it, and when I got it, the header had already been detempered.

congrats on getting it started.

yes ... it's your imagination. you inhaled too much exhaust fumes. in fact, you're not really here.

just kidding - no. it's not your imagination.

wouldn't it glow red if you were running lean?

...

leaner is hotter right?

I think the extra fuel ignites/continues burning after it's gone through the header. I'm still sort of confused as well, because if I had a vacuum leak, then I would have to richen the mixture due to extra air leaning it out.

hah, that's what I would do with my '83 parts car BEFORE I decided to make it a parts car. After I got my '82 and had it up on jack stands, I would go outside at night when it was too cold to work on it, start 'er up, wait for her to warm up, and then rev it. The first time I heard the engine with the RacingBeat exhaust, I was in love. I had had an RX-7 with a messed up engine for at least 2-3 months, but had not heard the rotary before. Even though I'm a hardcore fan of domestic V-8, I still loved it [even though, IMHO, the rotary engine does sound ricy, but not crappy-ricy, if that makes any sense.]
