Finally made it to a dragstrip (1/8th mile)
Well, the RX-7 made its 1/8th mile debut at Ohio Valley Speedway. Plenty of people out there tonight, so Cindy and I only got two runs each with her driving the SVT. My first run was a 10.37ET with a 69.43MPH; second run slowed to a 10.48ET at 68.92MPH. With only two runs and this being my first time to drag the car, I never really got to a point where I felt good about my launch off the line. The second run was particularly bad with tire spin at the line helping me to get a monster 2.654 60ft time.
Well, it did faster than I expected. I guess that counts for something. I sure would like to get in at least 4 runs for my $15.
Mods are:
RB Header
RB Presilencer
RB Muffler
Eibach Springs
Koni Shocks and Struts
Centerforce Clutch and Pressure Plate
Electric Fan Conversion from Fiero
Removal of AC and AP
Do these times sound about right for the mods, or should it be doing better?
Thanks,
James

according to my calculations, a 10.37 1/8 equals out to about a 16.1 or so 1/4 mile time. You should be running faster than that I would think about 9.7/15.1 would be closer with your mods.
Keep working on the launch, get your 60 foot times down.

Ya, my car is heavy, atleast when I am in it. I am 6'5" and weigh in at 300lbs. It provides humor for people who get to witness me getting in or out of a RX-7. I had figured the car would be in the high 10's to mid 11's with me in it, so I was suprised by the low to mid 10's. There is definitely a large amount of room for improvement at the launch, and I truly believe getting it right could dip the car into the high 9's. My car kind of got swarmed by people when I got to the track. Found out later that there was a NA 20B powered 1st gen supposed to be making an appearance to stomp the all motor class, and they thought that was me. They looked sad when they saw my 12A under the stock carb and breather. Oh well...
Out of curiosity, was there ever such a creature as a NA 20B. I have only been familiar with the TT variant of jspec fame. If anyone has links with info on such a motor, I would love to read about it.
Later,
James

Hey, I thought I a had already answered some of those questions.

The autocross is at Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium, and should be a fairly fun event. I would imagine that we will have somewhere around 150 drivers, weather permitting. Registration opens at 8am I think, with it and tech both closing at 10am sharp. We usually shoot for a 9am arrival time. Bring sunscreen! (listen to me talking at you like you were a newbie )
Call me when you figure out your plans, and BTW, AC=502, another fact I am sure you know.

With almost your exact mods (GS with full RB exhaust, e-fan, timing advanced, no emissions) I used to run a 15.7... mind you I'm a scrawny 155lbs weakling lol.
Given that your 60ft times are pretty slow, I'd say you're definitely running respectable times for your mods. I doubt you'll see much better than that with stock carb and motor, unless you do some very hardcore weight lightening.
Right now I've got a Dell'orto 48 setup and believe I'm pushing about 150hp and running around 15 flat or perhaps slightly better - haven't been to the track yet to confirm, but cars I've raced lately have backed up that assumption.
