Few questions for the auto-x guys
I did my first event today and was impressed at what I did for my first event. I can really break loose when I need to. Alright, they put my in CSP because of my exaust, and I relized that I should do the rest to my car for that class since I cant or wont go back to stock. I know the sterling carb is on the list, but what all suspension work can I do still. I wanna get all the strut tower bars, bigger sway bars and RB springs. I'm gonna race a slick tire too. Anything else or what cant I do?

It was my understanding that axle back systems were legal for stock class. I did my first event in the new 7 as well. Holy crap!! How do I keep a rear wheel drive car pointing straight?

If he has a header system, points will be assessed for removal of the exhaust manifold and emissions controls, which bumps him into CSP.
As far as being competative in that class goes, I wouldn't worry about it yet. Take a few seasons and learn how to drive the car to its present limits. After you can't get any faster, then start worrying about mods.

I'm just looking for stuff that will replace the stock components which are really shot to hell, mainly struts and bushings. Anything else in that equation helps too. I'm gonna get some shaved and fairly used kumos from a fella that has a ITA 7. They're about to change to hoosiers so I called dibs on the used ones. Yes I am emissions free and have a race port header. I still cant believe how well the car was after sitting for 10 years. I went from 64.8 to 56.3 around a 3 lap cource. The FTD was 44.xx I believe and was a impreza with turbo, no muffler and wow.

The best advise for you from one auto-xer to another is to BUY A RULE BOOK!
Read and study it.
Don't spend any of your money on upgrades for your first season.... Just get seat time and learn how you drive your car. Ask others to drive your car during practice events. Pick a faster opponent and try to beat their time.
After a full year of autocross, you should be able to figure out what YOU need.
This is my setup and its fun... not a winner, but fun.
82 GS
personally rebuilt 12A motor
LSD + discs
Tokico Blues
Eibach pro-kit
removed rear sway bar
RB muffler
15x7 epsilons + 205/50-15 Azenis
It's far from ideal for CSP, but it's fun and I can usually place in the top 25%.

As for replacing worn out components, go with OE replacement stuff, the Tokiko non adjustable struts and shocks are very good for the price. If you need springs, the RB units are cheaper than stock and not much stiffer than stock. I wouldn't do anything extreme until you get a feel for the car and your driving skills.
Like I said, don't worry about mods, worry about your driving. Anyone can build a quick car but it takes a good driver to get a good time. I've been beaten by a Toyota Starlet and I've beaten a Porshe 911, it all comes down to the driver, not the car.

I've also been beaten by a '75 Honda civic with a stock 1.2L engine.
It all boils down to experience.
