fc coil tutorial?

Anyone know whereto find a good how to on this? I found a few in the search but there seems to be a little contravery whith eac of them and I want to make sure I do it right. I'm not too knowledagble on these ignition sytems. I have the fc coils and ignitors in hand. Does it matter which coil pack you use?( leading or trailing )Thanks for any input.

I hope to get my car licensed tomorrow so I'm hoping to get this on today if I can figure otu what I'm doing
I plan on useing Metallic-rock's thread on this unless someone says there is a problem with his thread. One potential problem I ccan see is I got a trailing coil pack for free amd the thread calls for a leading pack.I also see that he is saying to discard the ignitor. Don't I want to use the fc ignitor also?

Brian, I'm doing mine tomorrow but I'll try to take pics as I go. I'm pretty sure you need a leading coil, though.

The leading coil has one primary windint and 2 secondary windings cause its made for wasted spark direct fire. The trailings are 2 coils each with a primary and sec winding as I understand it.

Ok, well in a nutshell they are different. Go with whats proven. If Metallic Rock's setup works good, use that as your guide.

brian - for reference, here are some pics of the two side by side. The leading coil is on the left.

Here's one with the leading ignitor exposed.

If you have any specific questions, you can PM me.

I have never tried to use the trailing coil, so I do not know what would happen if you tried. I do know that I daily drive mine with the Leading Coil in. Works good!!

I check the forum daily, so, I should get back to you soon if you have questions.

Thanks guys, I see there is a big difference in apperance and Carl said there was some internal differences as well so I don't think I'll try it. Judgeing by the size though I am tempted. Bigger=better I don't know

Teh leading is smaller cause it only has one primary winding I reckon. The trailing is like two regular coils glued together/siameesed.

if there were some way to make both work at the same time I suppose it might be, but from what I've read the trailing coil pack has to be controlled by a computer while the leading one is simply fired by an ignitor, making it a "direct" fit to our cars.
