FB or FC

Some of you may or may not know me...i used to post back in 2004 in the FC section, back when I had an 87 Rx...Well unfortunately her engine blew and because of money reasons at the time I was not able to keep her and had to sell her off. Well to fastfoward to 2006 I now live in Puerto Rico instead of Orlando, Fl. I have in my possession an 83 GSL with a possibly good engine, but with bad coolant seals(water goes into the combustion chamber) and RB headers(thats all I see that has been modded). The previous owner told me the car has been sitting for about a year. And here is where the question starts to come in. Some guy at my job has an 88 RX with a recently rebuilt engine(one of the housings was new, spent 1300$ on engine last year and it has 15-20k miles on it), RB headers n exhaust, the body on both cars needs to be done, slightly and both need paint. The FC is running though, obviously and even has A/C...the guy has had it for 6 yrs so he knows how to treat it. Well the guy sees my liking of RX7s and he offered me to sell me his car for 2200$. So now I have a decision to make...and it is....either

1) Fix the FB, rebuild the stock 12A with a streetport
2) Fix the FB, but instead of rebuilding, just buy a TII 13BT with tranny for 1300$ and drop it into the FB
3) Buy the guys' FC

Ok first of all, I've never had an Fb so I dont know how they ride n all, so that'd be new for me and I really like the car and second, I really loved my FC and I know how much fun I had in it and would love to get another one. Im not going to make a decision now.....but when I have the money, I have about 700$ saved up in the bank so I have time to decide wisely, all I want is people's opinions....I will also post this in the FC section to get opinions from both the FB guys and the FC guys.

Thanks
--Luis

P.S.: Heres a pic of the FB

Agreed. This is what I'd like to do with my FB after I get everything else straightened out.

I want to get it running and on the road again. Then fix all the OTHER crap. Meanwhile put the FD under the knife. When finished with the FD, and have it back on the street... Time to TurboII the FB.

I am with you on that one. It may only be 7 years now, but FD's and 80's 911's (actually a RUF BTR with an 80's model 911 turbo as the base) are always going to be my dream cars.

I have the FD and the FB. I daily drive the FD, but still love my little FB. Though, it's a hackjob, it's easy to work with. The FD has been my baby for some time now, and has been deveoping a bad coolant seal for some time. So, it's time for that bridgeport (maybe) she always wanted. First, I need another car to drive daily. I'll make the FB a nice daily driver, and the FD the weekend toy. Then when time and money is right, the FB will get go-fast goods.

Well, the FC and the FB are definately different animals. Depending on my mood, my preference changes between the two cars. I started out with a 91, later got an 84 GSLSE, and then sold the 91. The FC is a lot more comfortable, and overall a more refined sports car. The first gens, on the other hand, are a purely fun street-legal go kart. They have a great 80's sports car charm, and I believe to be overall more fun than the FC. One major weakness, however, is that the steering is utter crap in the FB, where the FC steering is close to perfection.

Given your options, if you are willing to do the work, I'd drop the T2 engine in it. If my engine ever dies, that's what my SE is getting.

didn't bother reading ur post before voting.

Get the fc. and rebuild the fb later. there's no use tearing into another running 7 (none the less an fc) just just 13bt a slightly running one. FC's can be fun too, not as fun as the fb, but the recent 13bt rebuild means it's gonna last you just as long as you need to get the fb running again with it's own engine power.

Good luck,
Nector
