Exclamation The FB that could....long post

Well i just finished my 33 hour trip....i drove from 29 Palms, California all the way to Camp Lejeune, NC.....man was it a long drive.....during the entire drive i saw only 1 other rx7 and it was a second gen right on the border of Texas and Oklahoma.....well i drove the car all the way from Cali to New Mexico in 1 day....when i stopped to sleep and start the car in the morning it started really really rough...requiring a lot of gas pumping and choking the life outta my carb....

Next day i traveled from New Mexico all the way to Memphis, TN.....once i got there i stopped to sleep and when i woke up....same thing...car wouldnt start.....well after about a half an hour of trying my battery dies.....so to my rescue comes my father to help out with the car.....once he gets there and starts jumping the car i go to turn it over and the starter doesnt even crank!!!....so i get under the car and the cable from the battery is loose on the starter....so i tighten it down....too tight and it breaks the bolt off!!!....so now im underneath the car holding the wire while he cranks it over...lots of sparks...lol......well after about 5 hours of trying to get it to turn over we get told to put automatic tranny fluid down the carb and itll start right up....im thinking...what the f@#*.....well sure enough we do as were told and she fires right over..

well i get to my fathers in TN.....once i get there we get a new starter and we try to fire the car over....nothing.....so we start messing with the timing and its all messed up.....how i dont know.....well we get the timing to where the car will idle and i take it for a spin....sure enough NO power....she was bogging out at about 4k in first gear....so then we check the dizzy...its 180 out so we line it up....now the car wont even turn over!!!.....so after that we put it back at 180 out...sure enough it fires right over...no gas or choke just the twist of the key.....

well i finally drive all the way to NC....i get here and the car starts and runs fine....then today i drive it to check in to my new duty and it dies when i get into the parking lot....i had to choke it to start it again to go to the store....so i drive to the store and i fill the gas tank.....after that i return to where i check in at....now its stuck!!!!....the car wont start over...all it does is crank, guzzle gas, and kill the battery.....so now im stuck in NC without a car and i cant get anywhere....y is it that i seem to have no luck with rotary's.....

Also i dont understand its problem b/c i just bought the engine.....Compression is great........Brand new dizzy cap & rotor, spark wires, spark plugs, blaster coils......Brand new starter

If anyone has any advice or wants more info on the engine or anything i can give it....i really need this car to run for at least another month so that i can save the money to purchase my new 12a sp engine, intake, and get it PROFESSIONALLY installed b/c im tired of doing all the hard work......thanks a lot.....and im sorry about such a long post....parker

Semper Fi.

Check your fusible links, and ignitors. Might be a bad connection.

Maybe a stupid question, but have you verified that the leading ignition is firing and that all wires are properly routed? Lose your leading and it'll be next to impossible to get started and have no power. Just a thought, but I'm shooting in the dark...

I completely agree. I'm sure you'll get it going again.
