sand it till its smooth, I had one with small patches, I primed it, put some spotfiller/bondo and then got the generic black from my auto parts store... The same black that I used for my headlights...... Has anyone here ever gotten a repainted 7 without spray on EVERYTHING. people.

I did the same as everyone else, except I was too lazy to mask it, I just used a piece of paper and followed along the edge as I painted.
You could also use paint stripper and remove all the old paint exposing the stainless steel, but I'm not a fan of shiny window trim.
I don't have a picture focused specifically on the window trim, but you can clearly see the trim in this picture, nice and black.

If you only want to do it once:
I powdercoated mine. Blackdragon.com sells a nylon (so no scratchy) tool designed to pop the moldings off the clips. $10. I'd recommend buying a clip-kit from/thru a local glass shop: $10-20. Likely break a few on removal - they seem almost designed to! Take note of various rubber and plastic joints underneath!! Most are IRREPLACEABLE!
Alternate is do what I did- take car to glass shop, let them pop them and install them. Takes minutes, these guys do it all day.
Because PCoating costs more than a rattle can job, worth pulling as many bits you'd like done at the same time. 'Coater shop will (should) media blast first, so finish is nice.
Had all moldings, drip rails, mirrors and wiper arms done in one shot. 2yrs now and are still as new-

I used the "Mother's Back to Black" and it worked very well. I've also been told by a couple friends of mine that you could use the tire shine and that should give it the oil it needs to give it that black finish again.
