and used some grade 8.8 bolts and locking washers works great and i havent had a prob
i am also running straight pipe so if you have stock muffler you might want to run it with the rear section of the exhaust off till for about 20 30 min of freeway driving to blow out the excess silicon that oyerlapped inside the pipe
if u still have a cat on it i would remove that to
in this order
manifold flange
copper silicone ****
gasket
copper silicone ****
gasket
copper silicone ****
exhaust flange
BOLT HELLA TIGHT!!
USE SOME GRADE 8.8 BOLTS

Gotta find a way to keep the exhaust from leaking out through there, otherwise that small leak will burn up the gasket and make a larger leak.
Clean up the faces of both sides of the connection. Nice and smooth is what you want. Then consider getting new bolts and nuts if the ones you are using are not in top condition. Make sure you're using lockwashers, so they don't back out due to engine vibrations.
Also, check for any bent pipes or other misalignements...

Misalignment of something would be my guess, too. You might want to just loosen up the whole system (except the manifold at the engine), and then re-tighten starting from the manifold and working back. The cumulative play over 10+ feet of pipe can amount to a couple degrees at one flange.

It's most likely warped. It happens after many heat cycles, especially if over-tightened. Once it's warped you need to flat sand it after removing the studs. Don't forget the flange on the other side. I did this once and the exhaust went from a loud, gasket blowing backfiring noisy mess to a nice tight sealing connection.

yes so i tryed useing a bolt extractor but i snaped two of them so all i did was drill it out with a 3/8 bit and just droped a bolt in there and tighted it up and used some high temp goop stuff everywhere

They always warp there. Get some coarse emery cloth and use some spray adhesive to bond it to a block of wood. Once dry, you have a great tool to sand the hell out of the mating surfaces. Been there done that, worked like a charm!
