Exhaust questions?!?!?!?1
Hey all, I have some exhaust questions. What would I do for a sweet sounding sweet performing ehxust on a rx7? I know for my stang it would be 2.5 inch pipes, with some flowmasters, and BOOM, but what do you do for these cars? I have heard about pre-silencers and all kinds of weird stuff.....whats the deal? If you had a stock car, and just wanted good sound, what could you do cheaply? Is a rotorary louder cuz of constant exhaust? whats too loud for street? whats open pipes sounds like? Adam

Wankelboy,
I'm runnin' a header on my '85 GSL 12A, then it's straight back to a muffler at the rear. It's fairly loud, but since I live out where the cows have beards it's no legal problem. My wife doesn't like it, and to be honest, after about 1/2 hour of drivin' it kinda gets to me as well. One my Son's '84 SE I put a resonator where the cats were, then straight back to a muffler. Much, much better. Still gets a "sporty" sound, but not that bear-chasin' racket.

The problem with trying to do it "cheaply" is as the old saying goes "You get what you pay for" Rotary exhaust is extremely hot and will basically melt the linings in a cheap muffler within months. The most common and probably the best set-up is the Racing Beat complete set-up.
Good luck!
