Dose a bigger exhaust with a 12A non-turbo engine would make a performance different? Say for example removing the stock one and getting one custom made at a muffle shop for it?

Maybe he want to do that but I been thinking about the same thing good thing someone did asked about it.

racing beat says it doesn't

in their page for the full rb kit, they say that replacing the stock exhaust pipe from heat exchanger to muffler would not produce any signifigant increase.

i need to get an adapter for a muffler i bought. its gotta 2.5" inlet. well see how that goes, and if it sounds good, then ill make a sound clip for you guys. i bought one of those OBX SS mufflers that have stainless steel wool double wrapping inside for packing material. i remember seein that FB's needed a muffler with steel wool packing so it wouldnt blow up, i saw a few posts when i searched that said some guys ran this muffler and were happy, so well see. i jus hope it sounds good.... :/

uuuhhhh, i think you might be okay if you still have cats and the stock manif, but if you open it up is going to destroy all that steel wool garbage on the inside!

If you must use that muffler, you can simply cut some slits in the opening, bend them in a little over the stock pipe, and weld it all up, viola. but really, you dont want a muffler packed with steel wool..

The best thing to get is the biggest magnaflow you can get. And there is no steel wool inside it period.

Ok, if you use the stock cats with this it won't be too loud, but if you remove the cats, then its going to be unbearable. It may sound nice, but it will be a little on the loud side.

He could be talking about stainless steel wool. Most mufflers are either packed with fiberglass or stainless steel wool. Also, magnaflows have stainless steel wool packing in them, thats why they are safe to use on rotaries.

Oh ya, one more thing. If you remove the cats and use a header, you could go with a 2 1/4" pipe for maximum performance. Mind you, this will be loud as hell with the above mentioned muffler, even a magnaflow.
