engine sitting for a while...?

Hey so my engine hasn't been run in a while and hasn't had a carb on it in a while either. I plugged the holes in the housings with rags and duct tape but im still nervous something may have fallen in. Is there anything i can/should do short of pulling the engine apart to make sure that i don't destroy my beloved 12a when i fire it again after putting on the new carb?

^Then blow compressed air in the port when you get the apex seal to the edge. Anything that is in there should come right out.
