engine shaking dilema overwith
I posted here a few weeks ago about diagnosing a bad engine shaking problem. I first thought it was a broke or sticking apex seal but really didnt want to believe that was the problem and at one point I did shedule a $125 compression test but never did have it done.
I then believed it was an ignition broblem and checked and replaced several parts with that and still having the shaking.
I replaced the motor mounts as well thinking that could be the problem.
I then thought it was a carb problem and replaced the stock carb (was planning on this before the problem developed) with a racing beat/holley setup. That did not correct the shaking. I then again believed it was an ignition problem and took it to a mechanic to have the ignition system totally checked out. The igition checked out ok and he said it was most likely the carb out of tune and that he did not have the equip. to tune/adjust performance carbs.
so I took the car home and going by what he said I began to toy with the carb and I have the eliminated the freaky shaking thats been driving me mad for almost 2 months.

I had the same problem with the engine shaking. My problem was with the carburetor too, but it was the gasket I had gotten from a rebuilt kit was too thin. so I had to stick two gaskets in there and it worked fine.

When does the shaking occur, at idle? High RPM/Low RPM?
Do you have any power loss.....
I had vibration issues aswell, but mine was main cause buy the trottle need to be adjusted at idle and I played with the screws around the intake.
Also I changed the cap and rotor, but the problem was my distributor. My car was a high milage car and it was worn.
Motor mounts could be gone, timing could be off, plugs can be worn out, or even dirty.
