Engine idle

My engine seems to idle around 1500rpm and when i press on the gas the rpms go up then when i release the pedal the idle goes up a couple rpm what is happening ?

Try adjusting the air mixture screw on the carb

The air mixture screw will help correct your idle before you have to deal with the idle screw if you even have to. Most times you don't have to mess with the idle screw

the idle is around 250 to 500

book says 800 is the proper setting. older engines will idle nicely 800-1100 rpm.

i started my car yesterday and had troubles jsut getting it to idle but it hadnt been started in a year

what city do you live in, in B.C
