Engine Colors
Any one have any opinions on the meanings behind different engine colors? I know most has to be self preference. I did mine light colors, in oder to see leaks and what not, less shadows for things to hide?

I think it's strictly one's preference dude.
I'd paint mine blue/silver simply b/c I have blue hoses and blue plug wires and I think that would go good with a white car.
Just keeping the motor sqeaky clean should be enough to tell if it's leaking anywhere or not.
Black/silver and Red/silver looks good too I think.
High temp. paint is very limited on color choices.

I've done aluminum (it's like silver) and black and it looks good. My friend and I recently did red and black, which also looks good. The generic silver and black is hard to beat. My next engine will have some more aluminum and black, because I don't know what color the car will be (I haven't gotten the car yet).

I would definetly paint my engine/car Pink, Purple or Fushia. Why? Because its totally different from all the mainstream stuff out there. My interior is gradually becoming Sunshine Yellow. Its not as refined as I'd like it to be, but it stands out, gets mixed comments, and I can find anything in my car at night.

Here are a couple I've done. It all just came down to what paint I had handy. I prefer to paint the cast iron side housings (they need protection) and leave the aluminum rotor housings alone. I like the contrast and it's tough to get the paint to stick well to the aluminum for any length of time. In the future, I might try anodizing the aluminum...

Sandblasting is only good on rusty cast iron. Blake once told me that he thinks bead or media blasting makes parts look better than new, and I had to disagree because I prefer the machined look regardless of slight discolorations due to corrosion or whatever. If the surface is pitted from corrosion, well, blasting pits the surface as well so it can be covered up to some degree, but I don't like the look of it. I think it has to do with my familiarity with the way the parts look stock.
I didn't rebuild the engine above (only painted it with a friend and swapped a few things around), but as you can see on the exhaust ports, it's been blasted.
