The End To The Auto 5speed Swap
I wanted to end some topic threats that floated the form about the 5 speed swap and hope you all can help me. I just did my 5 speed swap on my 82 gsl. here's what I used
84 transmission(with shifter), starter, clutch slave, clutch lines, clutch/brake pedals, transmission bolts
82 clutch master, clutch kit and flywheel , and the 4 wire clip and wires from the inhibitor ( I left about 2 to 3 inches left on thee inhibitor)
I have a 84 drive shaft but for got when i was picking up parts that the 82 has a smaller flange on the drive shaft I reused my auto one
here's how i wired it I couldn't find anyone threat posted anything about the wiring of thee back up lights and starter
unlike thee 84 the 82 and younger 7's had a 3 speed auto that makes the mounting very easy they bolt in almost the same spot if your swapping a 4 speed auto a mount has to be made
from what I know thee 4 speed set back 4 inches from where I needs to be
(any 81-85 transmission will work thee 78-80 the shifter is moved forward a bit it can be used but thee tunnel had to be modified mounting is the same)
(I made my own block off plates for the top and sides of the motor as well was in side the car where the old shifter was)
( you can use all the auto bolts except the starter bolts)
(the flywheel bolt is 2 1/8 sears sells cheap now getting it back to 300flbs is the trick )
let me know if i missed something or if there's questions
here's the info that helped me out a bit

I don't see why there would be a problem with imagestack and viruses as the pictures are hosted by them? can you not see the photos, I can make them larger if you would like? or if there is a better image host ill give it a try.

I have a question or two since i covered the 82 is the wiring on the 83 84 85 any different than what i have i know there are like 4 or 5 different transmission wiring harnesses out there. second is it possible to use the cruse control with a swapped 5speed conversion? If so how do you go about wiring it and can you use the 5th gear sensor for the cruse control or is it just for the nikki sensor on the back of the carb?
