emissions help
I need info/help to sell an 85 gsl. We live in an area that doesn't require an emissions test and no one has the equipment because it isn't required. But we are trying to sell this car and people from areas where emissions tests are required ask about this. We are the original owners and the car only has 69k miles on it. What are the chances it wouldn't pass a test and how expensive is it to fix it so it would? Thanks, anybody.

obviously, i don't have to tell you that everything on the car is 17 years old. assuming that the emissions equipment is still there, and everything is hooked up right (no broken or rotted hoses, etc.) then, i don't see why it should be hard to pass emissions tests.

I'll buy it if it only has 70k on it! damn! Did you at least drive it every few weeks? The emissions should be fine...nothing to worry about if the car doesn't burn too much oil or anything as horrible as that.

emission help
thanks guys for your help. We didn't remove anything. Some yrs back we had a new muffler and some new tailpipes put on it. As far as anything else, the car has only had a few minor repairs and a few normal wear and tear repairs: alternator, battery, fan clutch, hydraulic clutch cylinder, clutch, airconditioning serviced, but none of that would effect the emissions equipment, right? It doesn't burn oil or smoke, runs strong. So it should be ok, right? Yeah, so what really happens to a car that is 17 yrs old? It really is only 69k miles old, right? The 17yrs effects the paint, leather, carpet, weather stripping, right? Help me out here, I am trying to think of a way to push selling this car, as much as we love it, it needs to be driven and cared for!
