Emergency In Orlando Area

Ok, been away from the forum for a while, so my apoligies...... but........

HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1983 GSL - 12A stock
I busted a rear radiator hose, and I live in an apartment complex in Winter Park. So, I can't work on my car. I am not sure how much I will pay to get it fixed, so I am asking for help. If anyone here lives in the Orlando area, specifically Winter Park, please please please give me a call at:
(207)240-9580 ANYTIME.

The hose is located to the rear of the engine, underneath the filter. Looks to me like it goes to the Oil Cooler, but I can't be sure.... any ideas? Perhaps tell me what it is called? Length, diameter?

Thanks - Jeremy

Hey Jeremy is my friend from home so someone help him out, he's a good kid and his apartment landlord is just a dick. Hook a brother up, he can do the work, just not allowed to.

If all else fails J do it in the middle of the night, I am sure with a flashlight you could get it done and no one would be the wiser.

Hey man, get yourself some 5/8" heater hose. Just the standard stuff from the auto parts store. They usually sell it bulk by the foot. Then, as TTTRX-7 says, swap it out in the middle of the night . If you odnt think that will work, go do it at McDonalds or something . Seriously though, its not that bad to do. I just blew out my coolant line in that same area a couple weeks ago. Good luck .

~T.J.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and why did it blow? Mine blew cause it was all oil soaked from the damn oil cooler leaking from before I converted to a FMOC (haha, front mount oil cooler...God Im lame sometimes ) from a 1979...If yours are all nasty, you might wanna look into replacing the O rings at the oil cooler. Theres 4 of them, and theyre like $1.50 each or something from www.MazdaTrix.com .

Sigh.............. can't do it..... I need Jack stands and a Jack! It's in a hard to reach spot and I have determined that it is, in fact, the heater hose which runs from the oil cooler to the heater core inside the vehicle. It's located right under the oil filter, where there is a sort of 'T' junction.

I took it to Pep-Boys to see if they could re-cut and re-fit the hose... I have to give em credit, they tried. But, in the end, pulling back into the apt, it split again. It's dry... nothing else but dry..... there is SOME oil residue, but that's just from the last dick that changed my oil (which I can't do either because of the aforementioned lack of jacks, and the TTRX-7's point of my landlord....)

Back to square one.... anyone know where I can get a heater hose?

Thanks... guess I will be rollerblading to school tomorrow.....

Your simple, cheap and easy solution is simply to plug the heater outlet on the engine, at least so you can drive your car somewhere to have the hose replaced:

http://www.racingbeat.com/resultset....rtNumber=11490

Your better solution is to buy the heater hose, from Mazda or from Mazdatrix:

http://www.mazdatrix.com/bhose1a.htm

79-82 Engine (at LR) to Heater (at Firewall)
Note - This hose has a high failure rate due to oil saturation from oil leaks and spillage from oil filter. Because of it's location it is commonly over looked, resulting in failure and possible engine damage.[
$43.13

Man, you brought back my memories of a few summers ago living at University of Toronto... used to do everything on my car in one of their underground parking garages. They had water lines; I hooked a hose up and washed my car under there every couple days... did all kinds of work on my car in there. I used to go down there and work late at night when no one was around - I had a couple funny conversations with the campus police when they'd drive through lol.

Good luck man!

Oh and TJ is learning. That hose in particular fails due to oil soaking from dried up o-rings on the cooler causing an oil leak. Ive lost 2 engines on 2 different cars from it. WTG TJ! you are becomming wise in the ways of the FB grasshopper.

Thanks guys...... I ordered the hose online at MazdaTrix last night.... so I should be recieving it soon. The guys over at Pep-boys are going to install it for free since their last attempt resulted in the same problems....

Anyways, thanks for all the help. I should be able to get this thing back on the road in no time...
