It not overheating. the only issue i have is my fan is to big for this radiator. It hangs about 3-4 inches below the radiator i installed. I want a fan that will fit it exact and pull some good cfm's

Gonzz, I'm running a 16" Mr Gasket 2000cfm fan and car is running a little to hot for my taste. I think the problem is the "Bling Bling" good for nothing shroud I have installed. Someone on the 2nd gen forum has the same fan, but with a real shroud that covers the entire core of the radiator. He says his car cools just fine.

My shroud

My new shroud arrived yesterday, but I'm in a wheelchair do to foot surgery so I can't install it yet.

new shroud

Here is the guy with the same fan and home made shroud.

I've also been thinking of installing the same fan on the other side as a pusher, and and have the microteck controll it.

E-Fan

I think the best fan is the Flex-a-lite Black Magic X-treme 180. Here is the link. 3300 CFM. http://www.flex-a-lite.com/auto/html...c_x-treme.html
Here is a picture of it on my Ron Davis aluminum radiator.

I'm going to try to put my taurus fan in this or next weekend. I'll post pictures and a DIY. I'm going to try to make it look half way decent.

Same one I have. Almost a perfect fit for a 1st gen radiator.

I have the same one installed. The problem is my radiator is only 13" Tall. The fan is around 16-17" Tall. I have around 3-4" on bottom that goes beyond the radiator. I am going to try and box that part in this weekend..

Ya, my only problem is I have the smaller 3 row 79-82 rad on my 85. I am guessing the previous owner did this to fit the FMOC under the radiator. It's like 12 in high and 21 in wide if I am not mistaken.

Anyways, I have been trying to find a fan that will fit those dimentions and have at least 2000 cfm or more for a while

So, just mount your FMOC under it like the stock 79-82, and let it pull from both the radiator and FMOC. That would be the best setup of all.

lol, ya if had the $$. I think the flex a lite 118 pulling 2500 CFM 'should' be enough. The 180 wouldn't not fit my application anyways. my rad is maybe 20.5 in wide and that fan is 21.5. I have measured and the fan would not fit. Also I really don't feel like spending $170 more IMO

I decided to try this. I think it will work pretty good.. Gonna buy 2ea 10" fans that pull 1600 CFM each. Run them off 1 realy and have the haltech control them.. should work real good.. this is the link for them...

IDK man, watch out for EBAY, lots of scams. 1600 cfm fan for $24, I would be VERY wary of that. The seller doesn't even have the name/manufacturer of the fan listed. Just my 2 cents

Gonzz,

Look into getting a duel electric fan setup from an LS1. Bar none that is the best fan setup I've ever used on any vehicle for cooling purposes. It whooped on the black magic single fan (I had that before the LS1 fans)

Just hook them up with a relay or get a thermostat kit and hook it up to the radiator so they kick on at whatever temp you'd like, and be done with it. If you need help LMK, I've wired up my own LS1 fan setup on relays and a thermostat several times.

MR2 fans work great. Here's a pic of my original install on an original '85 radiator. These really kick out the air. In fact, for the last year I have only had one of the two fans installed and still have not had any issues with cooling. Mounting is simple, and can be done in about ten minutes. My total investment (including the fan controller) was under 50 bucks.

I got the fans from a junkyard for like 15 bucks. The fan controller was another 18. I acid dipped the frames and then painted them before the install. Later, when I upgraded to a 2nd gen radiator I ran into mounting problems that I didn't have time to sort out right then, so I only mounted one of the fans just to get by. That was over a year ago and I have not seen the need to mount the 2nd fan so far. These fans can be had cheap, and they put out the airflow like nobody's business. In my opinion, this is the ultimate poor man's setup. And on the stock 1st gen radiator, mounting couldn't be any simpler. Sorry Gonzz, but I don't have the dimensions on them right now, but I'd guess they're about 14" x 14" each.
