Electric fan

Ok so I know that installing an electric fan helps in the pursuite of horse power, but is it tough? What controls the fan? Thurmastat control makes sense. What size fan? What kind of effect does it have on the electrical system as far as load is concerned?

I know there are a lot of questions here but every little bit of info is greatly appreciated

Thanks every one

a flip switch controls the fan, engine gets hot, you flip the switch to turn on the fan. or you can rig up something to do it for you if you so desire.

Its super easy to install, just rip off the mechanical fan and shroud, zip tie in the electric fan, and negative to ground, positive to switch, switch to power.

People use all sorts of electric fans from junkyard dogs. Popular ones I believe are the Ford Taurus and the Pontiac Fiero... as well as the BlackMagic 150. You can find the BM150 at summitracing.com.

You can wire it to be always on or activated by thermostat... Make sure you get the shroud if you get the fan off another car because the shroud is very important in helping pull air into engine bay. Otherwise you can do a search as this topic has been discuessed.

Also I'm pretty sure that there is a gain of a few HP, esp at high RPMs because the engine doesn't have to spin the fan. I'm also pretty sure the stock electrical system can handle it.

Good luck and happy modding!

I took mine off a ford taurus, cut the shroud about a cm, and zip tied it on. It works great, i wired it so it comes on whenver the key comes on.

I did this by tapping it into the back of the fuse box. I put it on its own fuse, it blows the fuse unless its 20 amps or higher!!! jeez it pulls a lot o fpower.

ANyways, heres a pic:
