Edelbrook Carb help

Well I think I may accualy drive the FB for a while. Well accualy I am gonna have to drive it. Anyways. heres the deal on everything.

I have on order a holley blue pump with reg that is gonna be set at 6psi. I am thinking this should be about the right pressure. The intake is a posrted Racing beat 12a intake. The carb is a Edelbrook 600cfm performer carb. I bought it used and I think that is what it is.

Now my main question is about the pump and ho to run the wiring. I want to bypass the factory switch and just have a single swith hidden that way no one can run off with my car when I am not lookng. What gauge wire would be suited to run this pump and of course I will be using a fuse but do not know what size to use as of yet.

The reg as I stated before will be set at 6psi. I heard that this was a good pressure but that was for my last set up. This set up is pretty much the same but I just want to make sure.

Now for the fun part. The carb I am using is pretty big for the size of the engine I think. It has mechanical secondaries. But my main question is about the way you have the lines running to and from the carb. I want them away from heat as much as possible. Also what is the best Idle to set it up at. All of the cars that I have set up I have put the idle at about 200rpm above the factory setting. This seemed to give me better response. And plus around here we do alot f stopping in the middle of hills. SO instead of accually trying to take off like any other person would I got tired of rolling back so I just bumped up the Idle a little. But hey thats just me. I hate stopping on hills. Plus I am a little rusty on driving stick. I only drive one once a month maybe.

Well thanks in advance.

you can just splice into the stock fuel pump wiring from behind the drivers side storage bin then run some wires under the carpet up to the dash to a switch.... or wherever you want to put it.

as for the edelbrock. i've heard some good and bad things about those on a RX7, sounds waaay too big for a 12A and will need to be jetted and tuned, you might want to read this https://www.rx7club.com/1st-generation-specific-1979-1985-18/edelbrock-carb-conversion-267582/

I have a 600 Edelbrock that has been rejetted on a 12A SP with RB intake with RB headers and exhaust. I have my reg set at 5.5 lbs and idle set at 1K. It only had about 3K miles on the carb when I got it and wasn't running very smooth, so I rebuilt it and that helped a bunch. I have my air/fuel set screws set at about 2 1/2 turns out, but every carb is a little different depending on engine and ignition. 2 turns out would be a good place to begin. You can use a vacuum gauge and open the screws up until you get max vacuum then take it for a hard run, come back and pull the plugs. They should be burning a nice medium brown. Good luck.

Edelbrock works fine for me. The metering rods make for extremely easy main fuel ratio changes. Hopefully you have a thunder series edelbrock, that way the secondaries will open based on demand so the carb won't act too big for it. Don't use one of those shitty foam triangle ari filters either, get a 14" HEI offset base, standard lid and 2 1/4" k&n filter. The Edelbrock also has easy accelerator pump adjustment.

Ok got my pump today fricken Advance to slow for a snail. I am wondering where a good place to be to mount the pump and the reg. THe reg I was thinking on the firewall. But the pump is a mystery to me. Would the stock location of the stock pump be a goods place. Any info would be helpful.

^^ what jetting are you using on those edelbrocks?

stock location for the fuel pump is alright. just make sure it doesnt hang too low. then run a generic fuel filter out by the firewall in the enginebay as to leave less of the fuel system dangling around under the car. or fab up some sort of protection shield for the pump/filter. i tried putting a GSL-SE guard on mine but couldnt get it to fit right. not much of a worry anyways since my car rarely goes into spots it'll have things dragging that far up under the belly.
